Integra 2023 Acura Integra Type S
#241
- When I needed a replacement cruise control button for my RSX, I was able to find the part at a Honda dealer from the S2000.
- When I needed touch up paint for my Long Beach Blue RDX PMC, I was able to find the exact paint code at a Honda dealer from the S2000 CR.
- And now if someone wants the titanium ITS knob they can get it from the S2000.
Some engineer at Honda must be really nostalgic for that car.

Since, we are in Integra thread, it's important to share where it's standing compared to its German rivals
YTD Sales:
Acura Integra: 16.5K units
Audi A3: 7.8K units
BMW 2 series: 4.2K units
Cadillac CT4 (not sure if it's in the same segment): 5.4K units
Congrats to Acura and team!

MB CLA: 5K units
Integra, all the way! No car came even close...Almost 2X-3X higher sales compared to the competition.

Here's a nice (glowing) impression of the ITS from Autoblog.

But I mean if all of that is taken into consideration already, then props to Acura for the crazy high numbers for it.

Maybe its a different type customer that goes looking for the Cadillac, Audi, and Mercedes. A lot of folks go into Acura/Honda wanting to buy cars that's higher than they can afford. Mercedes and Audi aren't going to get that type customer as often as Honda/Acura would.

Acura doesn't have enough of a differentiator in their keyfob tech to stymie the flow of thefts and harkens back to when KIA was one of the few car makes w/o ignition kill!
I'm genuinely curious if auto insurance for Acura cars has steadily gone up.

Finally, don’t forget the margin must be very high since the car is built on civic platform.

While this is true, the Honda roots does have a price. Did you hear about all the Canadian Hondas/Acuras being stolen and shipped to Ghana?

We just started talking about the Canadian auto-theft in the last week or so here. This is not new and has been always high but since 2020, it has been increased. And I am paying every year slightly lower premium.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any other data or stats, except sales numbers. All I can say, Acura nailed it with the Intégra and killing it! Over a year now and not a single bad month! It’s very impressive to beat BMW, MB and Audi!

True indeed. I haven't really heard anything bad about the Integra except for the "purist" mad it's not a coupe. Lol! But other than that, sales for it or up there.
#254
Usually those "Purists" don't buy anyway....lol! They wait until the car is 5 years old and then they buy it secondhand. Acura has done their homework and market study.....a few people won't make a difference

I put "purist" in quotations because they say they are but have zero clue there was a 4dr and even a 4dr hatchback Integra. they just bent on getting a 2dr that they wouldn't even buy.
#257
I was very happy to see when you put Purist in quotation. I always put "True Enthusiasts" These terms are totally BS and most of these people don't have money to buy...It's all talk. These people are the leader of 5-10 year old car market!

If all you care about is 0-60, a Model 3 is much faster and cheaper than all of those.
At the end of the day, at this price point there are no other choices that come with a manual. That is a huge deal to enthusiasts who like driving their cars beyond just accelerating in a straight line. The only other option anywhere close in price is the CT4VBW which starts about $10K more (which to be fair I would pay for over the ITS).

Someone was comparing the MDX Type S against the X5 M60i or MC when the xDrive40i would have been closer in price and faster still!
I get if you don't want to deal w/maintenance or repair on German cars out of warranty but if you are only leasing, then at least BMW maintenance is covered for the typical 3 year lease (Acura only covers for 2).
As established above, the monthly payments might even be similar.

The majority of people do not want to charge their car multiple times a week if not every day. I know several people with model 3's and they all have an ICE vehicle as well. Frankly where I am the model 3 is a dime a dozen out here. It's also pretty spartan inside and who wants to go through a touch screen for pretty much everything? Most tesla drivers I see on the road drive super conservative (must be trying to get every mile out of the charge). The 0-60 time on the ITS leaves something to be desired. Acura design makes the car "look" fast but the performance never matches the looks. The car only weighs like 3200 lbs. How could they not get a better 0-60 time out of their performance variant of the integra. Remember also the S3 is just the mid level performance model of the Audi 3 series which makes the ITS performance seem even weaker.
#261
Is this a rhetorical question or are you being serious? It’s not rocket science; this car is mechanically a CTR, which is FWD. FWD cars are never going to have good 0-60 numbers. That said, the ITS/CTR will run circles around the S3 at the track (RS3, not so much, but that’s at a totally different price point). Remember, performance isn’t only about 0-60; if it was then EVs will dominate all.

Nobody is taking an integra to the track. Pretty much every audi S model has multiple tunes available at pretty reasonable cost that awill bring it close to or at RS performance. A lot of people do it and the powertrain on the S models handle the extra power from the tune quite well. EV's aside a relatively slow car compared to it's competition isn't exactly screaming performance to me. Thewit base model 3 is no speed demon either. You need to opt for performance upgrade if you want to access the power. It's still a model 3 which is a pretty boring car inside and out.

Very impressive data to share with potential buyers and owners.
- Integra sales top 24,000 units in first 9 months with nearly three times the retail sales of nearest competitor.
- Integra captures an incredible 40% of sales in premium compact class, creating the vast majority of the segment’s growth.
#264
I said after our May '22 test drive that they'd sell as many of these as they could make. It's so much better than its competitors, as the market has recognized. Acura has to be very pleased with its decision to launch the Integra. .

Just watched a video last night of a pretty good driver in a new '24 A Spec hanging with a Miata and a Mustang on a track day. So I guess at least someone is interested in tracking their non-ITS Integra (although I am certain the ITS would be the vastly superior track day car).

Honda/Acura is probably laughing at those who gave a thumbs down a year ago to Integra reveal lol! Acura nailed it with Teggy....

An awesome review. A must watch!
These guys did a great job with this review. Although, they forgot to mention that the Type S sells 3X more than the Audi A/S3 but we will forgive them for producing an informative video. The last 5 min of the video (summary) is a killer!!!

I have several friends who daily their CTR, too. Their only complaint, if they have any, is about the suspension being rough on bad city roads. It's pretty good other than that, and if they run in Comfort mode. Of course, the answer to that is the ITS if it were truly uncomfortable. Full disclosure, though: I drive mine in Sport mode 95% of the time, and the remainder in Sport Plus if the roads allow for it and I feel like hearing the crackles.

Grain of salt. Acura litteraly has two sedans to choose from. Most of the "competition" has multiple sedan offerings Audi has 5 sedans and even coupe offerings with multiple levels of performance for each model, BMW likewise . If you're an Acura buyer it's an Integra or TLX or an Accord or Civic for the value people. The integra is also a new model while the other "competition" models have been around for a long time. Not raining on the parade but context is important. Although anyone paying north of 50k for an integra to me is crazy.

The future A4 will be electric and I like their change of even number in the name = electric and odd number = ICE.

Not disagreeing with your overall point but sharing that Audi is trimming down their ICE line and the A5 coupe/cabriolet and A4 sedan are being discontinued, the A4 is now "part of" the redesigned A5 Sportback:

As for the coupe going away I was not all that happy to hear that. I am on the fence to get a 2024 S5 to replace mine but outside of some minor non-performance related changes it's pretty much the same exact car as I have now so not sure if I want to drop close to 75k (all in with taxes) to get almost the same car I already have but I very well may go that route as it's been the most enjoyable car I have owned and I much prefer the look of a coupe over a 4 dr every single day of the week. Not practical for a family car but if you are not hauling more than one passenger and have another vehicle for the occasions where you need a few extra seats, it's just fine. I think honda is also nixing the civic coupe as well or maybe they already did. Then again they have the electric prelude coupe talk going on so who knows where things go with coupes. If the ITS ever evolves into a coupe I would be down with a test drive on that, having a manual again may be some fun and kudos for acura for bringing the manual back.

I know they have decided to go pretty much half EV very soon, at least I think. Not at all happy on the govt basicly deciding what people can and cannot buy. The charging network nationally is way behind the push to get people to give up their ICE vehicles. Nevermind the fact that much of the electric used to charge is from fossil fuels, the carbon impact of producting them is way higher than ICE vehicles and some tesla super-charging stations use desiel generaters to charge the cars, I am not making this up. When something is better people will buy it without thousands of taxpayer subsidies thrown in to make it appealing.

Agreed, consumers don't want them and in all honestly they really just seem like a gimmick! Our electric grid cannot realistically support a significant shift to electric vehicles (EVs) unless consumers in states other than CA are ok w/ rolling blackouts. The gov't seems to be rolling out mpg requirements that are at best a pipe dreams seemingly with the goal of forcing manufacturers to heavily invest in a minimally, if at all, profitable transition to electric while also causing an increase in the pricing of ICE vehicles to be more on par with, or higher than, EVs. If I'm to believe some of the dialogue, they're making us more reliant on countries which, at the very least, don't have our best interests in mind and create more pollution mining and processing the materials for EV batteries even though we have resources we could mine and process via cleaner processes creating less pollution all the while making us less reliant on said countries, but I digress.
Here's an interesting article on what consumers apparently really want.
