Paint peeling on front bumper
Paint peeling on front bumper
Large area that paint peeled off
Paint cracking along the bend of the bumper above the fog light
I have a 2016 ILX Premium A-SPEC that is graphite lister metallic. The paint on my front bumper is peeling on the corner below the driver’s side headlight. Below the large peel there are cracks in the bend of the bumper just above the fog light. I have not hit anything. There are no marks on the bumper itself where the paint is missing that would indicate any type of impact. There are no scratches in the paint immediately around the two areas either. It looks as if the paint is just coming off of the bumper!
Has anyone had this happen?
when paint peels like that; it usually means improper, or unprepped surface. you can see the primer layer, meaning there is an adhesion problem after the primer was layed down.
another way it could have been damaged, but very very rare....is a rock chipped away at the clear coat and somehow water managed to get in-between the primer and paint coat.

Thanks for the info. I am going to take the car to the dealer this evening, but I wanted to get some feedback before I take it in.
Hopefully the dealer won’t give me any problems and cover it under warranty.

I had an 2010 civic that did this.
I don't tailgate and typically keep a good distance behind someone.
It had previously been in an accident and I chalked it up to just having the bumper replaced and having subpar paint on it.
I had sanded it down and bought some "factory match" paint for it but it got rear ended while parked and totalled.
You may want to see if the vehicle had previously been in an accident and had the front bumper replaced.
If you bought it new this reply just seems nonsensical.
