Thumbs down OEM All Weather Floormats - My Experience

As much as I like factory accessories, I'm afraid the Acura OEM all-weather mats aren't up to snuff. I purchased a set of these mats for the ILX back in October 2015, now barely 5 months into using them, they've worn pretty heavily and even cracked on the driver's side where one's heel rests.

We have Honda all-weather mats in our other cars, and the material seems to be a better, more pliable rubber on those mats. They certainly haven't worn like this, or cracked, and we've had those for years. Just a heads up in case you were thinking about getting these.

Go back to the dealer. Acura accessories have a one year warranty.

I really dislike mine.

Mine have always looked... sticky. No one has ever spilled anything in my car but the floor mats look sticker where the sun beats down on them. So a small portion but it is very odd.

As well the I in ILX is gone on my driver side.

I will probably go with weather tech soon.

Have you experienced any kind of cracking or abnormal wear on your drivers side mat where you rest your heel? Looks like I will be receiving a new drivers mat thanks to warranty, but am concerned that the same thing will just happen again.

I have not tried the OEM weather mats from Acura, but I've been using the WeatherTech custom fitted mats on my 05 Civic EX and 16 Acura ILX Tech Plus, and it's been great. Only thing about the WeatherTech mats is that they roll them up during shipment, and a lot of times the sides will not match 100%. Although forcing it in the direction where you want it to form and holding it in place kind of fixes the issue. I've been happy with my weathertech floor mats.

Peti1212, those look great! The fit and coverage is way better than the OEM ones.

Is that blue footwell lighting standard for 2016? Or did you swap a bulb?

I actually got an LED kit, that lights up the whole interior by the foot. I also installed it in the back under the front seats, so it glows in the rear foot area too. It has 7 colors, but the blue color goes well with the blue background on the screen. I could change it, but I like blue. :P

LEDGlow 4pc. 7 Color LED Car Interior Lights

What you end up doing is attaching the positive red wire to your interior fuse box through an expandible circuit, and the black ground wire you ground to your chassis of your car. I ended up hooking up the lights to the accessory power if I remember correctly. So you still have power to your accessory plug, but you also get the power for your LED kit from there. You just need this little accessory: http://www.ledunderbody.com/Expandab...-Amp-Fuse.aspx

You plug the accessory fuse into the adapter, and the adapter plugs into the original spot of the original accessory fuse. Then the red wire hooks up to your LED kit red wire.

Speaking about WeatherTech Mats, I got the cargo liner for my trunk too, and it actually saved my car from a major disaster. Our family went to Big Bear Mountain two weeks ago, and the bad weather came in, started raining all night. I didn't realize but I had my trunk popped just slightly. Well overnight the trunk opened and the rain poured in there. I ended up having a 2-3 inch puddle in the trunk that I had to use pour out of the trunk. Thankfully, nothing soaked through cause the cargo mat held all the water. Which is why I love how the WeatherTech mats have a higher lip on the sides. No matter what you spill, you're protected.

I just received my WeatherTech mats and they fit very nicely. I really like the high walls as they would contain any spills or dirt from ever reaching the carpet. The back is also one entire mat that covers the entire back floor, including the middle space.

I will second WeatherTech mats. I was always a whore or oem mats, due to their perfect fitment, but man, the WTs step it up a notch.

Yes, they are expensive. But the high walls keep near everything on the mat. Some still always makes it off, but I find my floors are waaaay cleaner than ever before, when I relied on oem mats.

I've got all three cars running them, and man, I don't think I could ever go back. Again, they're expensive, but 3 months down the road you'll never really think twice about the cost again.

I've been pleased with weather-tech in the past, but the last set I bought (02 Avalon) just don't fit. The driver side mat is about 4" shorter than the passenger side. The driver side of the car is not 4" shorter, nor are the factory carpet mats. I'm guessing they fit multiple applications on this one, not exact fit.

If you weren't expecting that kind of fitment on the Avalon, I would hope WT would keep you happy by refunding you.

It was my own fault for not looking at the pictures on their website. It clearly shows the driver mat being shorter. In addition, it was $15 shipping each way that I would have had to pay on mats that were less than $60.

I noticed my OEM mats seemed oily as well, but a quick scrub with warm water/car wash and a soft bristle brush and they have looked great ever since. Now they have a matte/grippy look and feel and don't look greasy like Dapper Dan hair jelly .
