2014 ILX check starter system?
I have a 2014 ILX. It has about 29k miles on it. I just had it in for service a few wks ago - oil change, tire rotation and alignment (I hit a turkey a few days before I went in...).
A few days afterwards, "CHECK STARTER SYSTEM" showed up on my dash board. Looked in the manual and it said to take it to the dealership, so I brought it in later that same day. At that point, the notification went away and the service department said they can't find anything wrong with. This was last week.
My service rep told me to have it towed next time it goes off, so they can find out what exactly the problem is. Ever since then, the notification comes on randomly. I never have an opportunity to have my car towed when it does (due to work, or it being when they aren't opened...would need a loaner car if I tow it there as I am in the field a lot for work). Whenever this notification pops up, whenever I go to turn my car back on, it won't start up right away, it will only go into accessory mode. I end up having to hold the start button in for awhile and then it starts. Then once it starts, the notification is gone. Repeat cycle!!
I googled to see what it could possibly be, because the Acura service department seems to have no idea. Any one else have this problem with their Acura?

Sorry to hear. Your best bet is to do as they have asked and get it towed the moment it happens.
I understand it isnt convenient with work but car repairs never are. And fact is when the issue gets more severe you will then be forced to skip work, this time far more stressed because the car isn't functioning period.
Hopefully someone can shine some light on your question better than I have though!!

Interesting... I haven't had a message pop up but I have had mine just click when I tried starting it a hand full of times. It always starts the second time I try though.

2014 Acura ILX Dynamic, less than 15000km. Same issue as the rest of you are experiencing. Intermittent problem with the push button ignition, car gets stuck in a loop where it only goes to accessory but will not turn over. If I double click the ignition button to get the electrical system to shut completely off and give it a few moments, it seems to catch and eventually turn the car over. It initially happened to me in winter and I had attributed it to cold weather starting, however the issue has manifested itself even in the hot summer season so it does not appear to be temperature related.
I spoke with the service department at Northwest Acura in Calgary, AB today and the service manager has advised that this problem may be due to a defective 'ignition relay'.
I will post an update as I know more. If anyone has any further information that could help diagnose or find a resolution to the issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

This is interesting feedback. For the last 6 years this issue has persisted - no dealership has been able to successfully mitigate the problem. I will take the car into a battery retailer and see what they come up with for the voltage.
Appreciate the insight!

My 2015 ILX 2.4 had the same warning light on the dash this summer. Today I took it to the dealership for an A1 service and they scanned the vehicle. Found code P16F7. They updated the PGMFI software.
