Overhead Homelink Wiring

2016 ILX, base package. We just helped my SIL purchase it and I'm disappointed that it does not have a built in Homelink (and poor audio quality, but that's for another topic).

I purchased an overhead maplight unit with the built in homelink HONBBHL4 module seen here: https://fccid.io/CB2HONBBHL4/Interna...photos-1559111

I'm used to homelink modules using three wires (Power, Ground, Illumination), however this unit requires its own 8 pin connector, which does NOT come standard on the base model ILX, much to my dismay.

Where would I be able to find a pinout to power up the module? I do not understand why it needs anything more than Power/Ground to work.

I don't have enough posts to send anyone messages, but the connector for the first gen TLX homelink should be the same.

I unplugged the ANC (active noise cancelation) device over the glove compartment and it made a huge difference. It uses the sound system to pump in fake exhaust sound and the speakers are so busy creating it that it looses sound quality.

It's not fake engine or exhaust sound, it's the "anti" sound waves to cancel out low frequency noise. Debatable how well it works but typically a cheap method to reduce interior noise when a car doesn't have much sound deadening materials.

Thank you sir! No wonder it didn't work.

Looks like the module doesn't even connect to the buttons directly, but has to reroute back through the roof console... I'll have to do some jumping...

This article is for the TLX. I wasn't aware that the ILX has fake exhaust sounds piped in.

When you unplug the ANC/ASC you really notice the difference, both in stereo sound quality and exhaust note.
