Why Exhaust tucked in the arse??

Did Acura ever explain why the exhaust was tucked in the arse? Was it to move on from the boy racer looks?

During the 2009 period, Acura wanted to go green or create the image of going green. That was their actual corporate language on why they removed the exhaust tips

Agreed, but as you can see it appears that Honda/Acura is going away from that with the newer vehicles ie - The newer 2018 Acura TLX A-Spec. I for one say, bring back the pipes!!!

yes, of course! just like anything, goals are revised. Acura made a mistake by attempting to create a "green image" and had to back track, or revise their goal.

lol right!?

the odd thing about the tucked exhaust, is that almost all automakers during that time period also tucked their exhaust...
I have a 2012 Kia Sportage and the exhaust dumps before the rear bumper.
thats like a period of like 5 years where EVERYONE had this trend.

geez, both of you missed the ... "that's like 5 years..." adding the filler word like, doesnt mean exact.
If Acura stated this in 2009 to become green.... and I have a 2012 Kia... that's like a period of three years. right? are we with me?
the 2017 ILXs still come without exhaust tips... that's like 7 years...

so a period of about 5 years where auto manu's decided that this no exhaust tip trend was a good idea.
Today, it has evolved into chrome disconnected tips.
while some auto manu's have decided to add quad exhaust tips back into the mix.
