Missing rear seat belt? tucked in?

Here's a wierd one: I was shuttling kids today and one of them noticed that there was no seat belt in the back seat. Well, it looks like the seat belt is behind the back seat (the part where your back rests) -- I folded up the bottom part and noticed the belt is underneath. Now how the heck does that happen ? I remember having a shock aborber fixed on the wheel side opposite side of the missing/tucked-under rear seat belt -- maybe they removed the back seat and didn't put it back with the seat belt accessible?

It's rare when I have two kids riding (only 1 is mine) but it's kind of irritating. Is this something I can easily fix? Perhaps, I'll have it done at the first/next oil change.

Maybe it'll take a while to fix and I'll demand a new seatbelt if it's stained and get me over the 2 hour timeframe thus qualifying me for a loaner car .

Anyway, thanks and happy holidays to you'all -- keep your TLs safe and most importantly keep your families safe.

Dennis

Yep, sounds like they done messed up when they put the cushion back in. You're supposed to slide it in behind the seatbelts. Idiots.

It's an easy fix. Take off the bottom cushion, take out the back cushion, slide it back in properly behind the belts, replace bottom cushion, done. It's a five minute job.

Is it just a pull up on the bottom cushion? and them once that's out, you can pull on the back cushion? or is there something to unclip, etc.?

Thanks again!

Yep, it helped me when I was running the power wire for my sub/amp install. That one stupid bolt holding in the rear seat bottom would have drove me nuts. Thanks Ron. You da man.

Thanks!

I looked at the scan for the seat bottom/back cushion removal. For my 2005 TL, bolt A is not 16mm -- it is 10mm (in fact it has a "10" on head). I removed that bolt with a socket wrench.

I was unable to pull the B hooks out. Do I need a pliers to do this? or should fingers work? I don't want to force/break anything. I'm assuming once that bolt A is out and the B hooks are pulled, the bottom cushion will just lift out.

Now how do you get to the bolts on the back cushion?

I gave up. So I tried to get the 10mm bolt back in but it would not go in -- it sure is tight in there having to pull the cushion away while trying to get the bolt/socket in there. Any advice?

Thanks,

Dennis
