Speaking of marketing and TV ads. I have seen a TV ad for the RDX with Dr. Phil being the spokes person and one for the ILX with Santa Claus driving quite vigorously. Bringing out the big guns now.

Don't forget Suzie Orman and the TL...splurging on those A-list celebs with real endorsement power!

Speaking of commercials, I loved these Acura commercials:

And the copy, Season of Reason, is magnificent!

Looks like Honda isn't exactly thrilled with the ads...$700 million!

Oh man, I'd love to pitch for Honda! It might benefit them to hire a branding agency to compliment the ad agency as ad agencies aren't particularly brand savvy as they claim to be.

Interior and exterior of the ILX is perfectly fine (at least for me). To get sales up, imo, drop in the motor (k23a1) and drivetrain (sh-awd) from my car, and have a 6 speed manual available. If Honda did that tomorrow, I'd be in more debt.

I'm thinking the changes would be mostly powertrain.

I don't think the K24Z7 is going anywhere..it wouldn't make sense to go from the K20 to the K24 for one year then straight to the Earth Dreams 2.4.. especially considering they put effort into the Endurance Racer ILX and street build (asking CT-E and other manufactures to come up with aftermarket products).. I think it'll stay, or atleast I HOPE it will.. I wouldn't mind if the 2014 got a few more things to differentiate the K24.. like an exclusive spoiler or lip kit.. But my priority for the K24 for them to change would be a rear bumper cut-out for the exhaust!!!! This is my #1 issue with the car at this point.. I so badly wanna cut my bumper but I am not so crafty with freestyle body work.

I hope for their sake they fix the steering too. This thing is pretty sketchy to drive at highway speeds in a heavy crosswind . . . lack of on-center precision and feel being my major complaint (heck it's about as precise on center as an '80s oldsmobile!).

Sad part is, since it has EPS, it's probably just a software update to fix the problem.

They probably can firm it up a bit.. I think the tires are one of my least favorite things about the car.

Agreed! Steering this thing and keeping it straight is an exercise in and of itself.

Boy, I am going to have to get out more.

I don't have a problem with the steering.

Well when there's a crosswind on the highway at 60 mph, the car tends to glide over the road.

Well I think that probably holds true for most smaller cars and that is what the ILX is. I have yet to encounter anything like that to this point but I suppose it will be less solid than my ZDX for sure.

That's not a k20, it's an R20. The K20 died with the 2011 Civic Si.

That was exactly the point I was making hence the rest of the post you didn't quote.. Considering the Earth Dreams motor was implimented it would be across the board, including the 6MT (I'd assume same as Accord Sport).

2011 Civic Si K20 - 2012 Si/2013 Acura ILX K24Z7 .. so if they replaced it that motor literally would only have been in commission for a year. That variant of the K24 atleast..

Isn't the current ILX K24 the same as in the Civic Si? If so, then isn't it also the same as the TSX post MMC? It's been around for longer than a year. I'm guessing that they view all non-Direct Injected (ie non-ED) K24s a part of the same family. Probably dating back to 2003 and the 2004 TSX.

I agree though, when ED makes it's way into the ILX, the 6MT should get a new engine too. Whatever the final nomenclature ends up being.

Just to clear things up: The 2nd gen TSX uses the k4z3. The k24z7 features a faster ecu but is mechanically identical to the z3. So, your point is still valid, but I wanted to be sure we're relaying accurate information.

The R2-D2 and the CP30s just get so tedious after Episode Six...

And the Earth Dreams 2.4L DI is labeled as a K24W.

The headlights and taillights on the Chinese version already look more upscale.

When they designed the ILX they should have considered the headroom when they put the sunroof. Being 6'3" I can't sit in the car without my head hitting the roof. They continue to advertise in their specifications that it has more headroom than the TSX, completely false, what else are they lying about?

Improvements

1. More HP
2. Blind spot camera/sensor
3. Ability to leave rear camera on while parking, even when going forward. Auto-lower side mirrors while parking.
4. Auto retract side mirror parking for tight spaces.
5. Blinker lights on mirrors
6. Lumbar support
7. If a passenger is sitting in the passenger seat (there's a sensor for this), allow full use of the Navigator and don't lock it off.
8. Coordinate the music package a bit better. Add an Artist/Title option for XM/FM instead of having to pick one of the other. Make FM/XM/iPod/HDD all show music info in the same place.
9. Allow ONE voice command to play an iPod track instead of "iPod Search", wait, hit Talk, "Play song Blah Blah" be able to say "iPod Play Song Blah Blah" or "iPod Playlist Playlist Name".
10. Allow split screen to show audio and navi at the same time.
11. Speak incoming caller name instead of just ringing phone.
12. Add ability to limit destination search radius to 100 miles or 50 or whatever. I don't like picking "Trader Joes" and being sent to one 1,500 miles away.
13. Fix issue with doors retaining water long after car is washed and or driven in rain.
14. Have an "API" so that software developers can interface with the car's computer, such as the app we have here in S.F. that directs you to an empty parking space.

P.S. as an aside, I think they could bump up sales by advertising the ILX more heavily in cities. It really is a great city car--easy to fit in a small garage, mirrors that go both ways so they won't get snapped off when a truck inevitably hits you while parked, etc.

I can live without any of this really.. I rather a "typeS or A-Spec" model. most of the things on the list add weight anyways. lighter, lower, stiffer, sportier version would be nice. widen the tires a bit, put some feel into the steering, etc.

I guess I can get a civic si at that point.. but I want something more refined and looks a bit more "grown up".
