TPMS Warning and snow tires--How annyoying is it?

Hi,

I'm considering getting snow tires and wheels for my ILX *without* TPMS sensors. Can someone please describe what the ILX's TPMS warning consists of and how annoying it is? I am trying to decide if this is a good idea. I really do not want to have to deal with having the dealer reset the sensors each time I swap wheels. I think I can deal with the annoyance for the few months that the winter wheels are on the car.

Also, what do you guys think of 205/55-16 for winter tires? The car is a 2.4l with the 17" wheels. For appearance I'd prefer 17" but I feel like the narrower and taller 16" will cut into snow better. Any thoughts?

Thanks

I am also looking for winter wheels and tires. Yes, I have read that down-sizing the tire will give you better traction in snow. And wheels one size down are also less expensive.

I have the same question about tpms, so I'm looking forward to other's input.

With out a TPMS you will get a chime every time you start-up the car. It can be dismissed by pressing down on the MID controls. There will also be a (I) indication light always on while you drive. Last and probably most important is that you will not be able to disengage traction control. In winter I feel that you may need to spin the tires in certain situations. Hope this info helps.

Thanks for the info. I've been researching about the different options, regarding clonable sensors, versus using the ATEQ VT30 to read the sensor codes and then the ATEQ Quickset to swap back and forth between wheels. Are these compatible with the 2014 ILX?

I came to a 9g Civic forum where they said that, new to the 2014 Civic, "TPMS will be indirect reading, using the ABS/VSA sensors. Same as 13-14 Accords and 14 CRV". Did that carry over to the '14 ILX As well? I assume not because I feel like I would have heard about it, but why in the world would the CIVIC TPMS system change before the ILX system changed?
