So i bought a complete set of tail lights of 2016 model ilx for my 2015 ilx. I got the side tail lights to install easy as pie but the inner truck lights (reverse) are a pain in the @$$!!!!! I broke the original taking it out but to my nice surprise, the new one will not go in... After some research apparently i need to remove the trunk lip. If anyone has done this let me know how you did it! I dont have access to a heat gun so a small torch will be used to heat up the glue.
any tips or steps of how to do this if u already did it please post below!
MY IDEA is to just cut off the stupid black part on the bottom ( only thing stopping me from an easy plug and play and just super glue it in place. It's not like im going to change it ever again and it's led so it will last super long.

I would not recommend cutting into the housing as it may compromise it and allow moisture to seep in?
I did the taillight conversion mod and have a how to somewhere on these forums.... What I can tell you is that I did not use a glue gun to separate the lip of the trunk, I was just really slow and careful on separating it to the point where I can pull out the originals and slip in the new ones. I had no bends, or issues, and I did not need to add additional adhesive to make the lip stick.
Perhaps I got lucky but my conversion looked very clean, no leaks, and no electric issues.
