squeaks and rattles

Any one of you getting squeakes and rattles from:
1. overhead lighting console.
2. around the steering column/driver foot-well, speedometer

it sounds like styrofoam rubbing against each other and plastic rattling.

I have had the car for 4 weeks now and super disappointed with several things on this car. I am second guessing my purchase. I will give the service folks a chance to fix it, but for a new car, man....

No, but I had some rattling inside the driver door. The tweeter covers on the door also have some play so they rattle time to time, but nothing serious.

I do have some squeaking in the pedals..

Specifically in the clutch.. Kind of annoys me.. Will definitely say something to the dealer next time I take it in for service..

I get it in the front passenger door. It reminds me to turn my music back on.

Sorry to UP an old thread but I'm getting exactly that: Rattle that sounds like its coming from the driver tweeter, but only when I listen to music that has a certain level of bass (which is odd considering tweeters are typically for Highs not Lows...)

Any clue or tips on fixing this? Is the dealer supposed to take charge of such minor "repairs"?

My only intermittent rattle is the sunroof slider that will make a little rattle from time to time. Otherwise, the ILX is tight as can be and enjoying the heck out of this little car.

I have an intermittent squeak behind the dash when driving down my (very roughly-paved) street. It seems to be between the instrument cluster and driver's footwell, and seems to only occur maybe one time in 10.

With plastic panels that rattle against each other I recommend using a small/thin piece of weather stripping and sticking it where the panels meet. This will eliminate play/rattle without looking odd.

I actually found out this week that what was making the rattle was not the tweeter itself, but rather the small vertical plastic panel behind the door handle. When you open the door handle, you can see it has a small indentation (I imagine it's to remove it with a screwdriver). That panel is slightly lose in my case and that's where the bass rattle used to come from.

Hope that can help anybody else
