Project ILX Type-S

Complete setup for <500 is a WIN!

Gonna go with the hfp suspension...found it for under $700. By the way, does anyone know or have any recommendations for the brakes...feel like they could use some extra initial bite when I try to grab the brakes during spirited driving.
#283
StopTech makes rotor replacements for about $350ish and you could get you some ceramic pads...

Finally got around to installing the yellow DRLS. What's great about these is that you can look at them head on and they don't hurt your eyes...great for oncoming traffic on the other side of the highway.

I also installed the aem cold air intake. Rest assured, this intake fits. I didn't use all of the hardware (i.e. to mount the intake to the frame) because the intake was snug, I was lazy, and I wanted to be sure there was some play once the pieces settled). Surprisingly, the intake is not as loud as I thought it was going to be. Then again, I could be used to hearing the intake sound as I removed the fresh air tube coming to the airbox when I first got the car, lol.
lower resonator box removal was an absolute pain. My friend threw the resonator box to the ground as soon as it was removed, lol.
installing the hose for the coolant was surprisingly easy. I should've done the coolant bypass mod, but I'll probably do that once the s/c goes in:
because I'm not a perfectionist, I didn't try to fix the fact that the intake wasn't aligning with the mounting point.

The TB mod works by bypassing the hot coolant lines running through the bottom of the throttle body. By design, the coolant lines are there to prevent the throttle plate from freezing under cold temperature. Because of this, the throttle body receives the same coolant temp running through the engine, which also heats up the intake temp. Therefore, this mod is usually done along with the Hondata heat gasket to further reduces intake temp.

And, the CT-E kit comes with a gasket.. I dunno if it has cooler properties to it like the Hondata one.

I just mentioned hondata's heat gasket because they make one. But the ct, p2r, etc will all be the same. In our case, it's just to prevent the tb from contacting the hot metal of the supercharger. But, for a stock ilx, where the manifold is plastic, an aftermarket tb gasket isn't necessary.

why does everyone say that intakes look like a whale's member? Who started that comment anyway, I don't want to meet the person who actively looks at the private parts of animals, lol. That notwithstanding, the password jdm intake is the official whale ***** intake.

If so what are the specs? 8.5 +35offset?

I believe that ILX was the one Evasive Motorsports was working on for the SEMA show. They're TEIN coilovers for sure though.
They're broken for me cant see them

I just called Greddy about the exhaust they made for the Sema cars and they said those were custom one off exhaust and that there were no plans at this time to release an Axle back or Catback for the ILX...
Looks like one off or custom may be the only option for us? I know its early in the game but if sales dont pick up we could have a hard time getting certain things (non SI compatible stuff I mean)

Thanks, but Im trying to figure out the wheel specs so I can figure out what I need before I spend a couple grand on wheels. Gotta do it right the first time.
OP, How large is the diameter of the AEM filter where it meets the tubing? Has anyone measured before instillation?
#310
Contact Magnaflow and see what they can do. They got big by making custom exhausts. Nothing crazy or expensive. Just the diameter you want and the quickest easiest way to go from the motor and out... where ever you want it to exit.
#311
lol Yeah so says the license plate.

I didn't measure mine when I got it, hopefully speed did to help you with that.

Evasive may know. I highly doubt tein knows or cares what the specs were... evasive might not even car lol They look pretty average so they probably just threw on some average spec volks they had sitting around.
Thanks douh.
Thanks douh.

Evasive actually responded to me EXTREMELY fast when I asked about the SEMA car. Shoot them an email.. I bet they know.

Yep they're a good starter. You can figure the spacers in so their flush fitment with no tuck or roll, they went 19x8.5+38 rear, 19x8.5+40 front. I am gonna try to get something close to that, as I don't wanna mod the fenders
#316
And its getting there. But still a long way to go before it's flush. Still sunk a bit though. Check out the rear shot.
#319
I feel like the Evasive set up was about as flush as I would want personally but there is definitely room to grow on it.
