New Si/Type R will mean ILX Type-S?
Based on how Honda transplanted all 3 powertrains from the 2012 Civic to the 2013 ILX, that could happen. Although, if the Type R motor is only in the hatch, maybe the ILX will be stuck with just the Si motor? Who knows. All of the above are possibilities. In any case, I'd bet that the next gen ILX will be a turbo.
Yeah, the next gen hatch is coming here, built in Britain. It's not too clear whether or not the next Type R will be hatch-only, but that's what it would seem like at this point. Would make sense, it was clear that the hatch was the last of the new models to arrive, aside from the Type R.

Yeah ok. Honda wants to sit on the sideline while watching Mazda, VW, and Ford get all the sales for compact hatches. Mazda 3 is the most popular hatch for last 10 years, and Honda is little late to the game.
Whether a formal "Type-S" is added to the ILX range or not, I expect the next gen to offer much more performance than the current gen. The ILX has had the Civic Si motor (or similar) throughout its life, so I would expect that to continue with a VTEC turbo in the ILX. Also, Acura announced it's increasing AWD availability, so I would expect that to help differentiate the ILX from the top Civic, perhaps with a slight power boost too. Maybe not CTR power levels, but something between Si and CTR. With VTEC turbo and AWD, it should have real sport sedan credentials.
As a longtime Honda/Acura fanboy, gotta say I was pretty excited to see the new Civic, learn about the upcoming turbos, Si with manual trans., etc. It looks like Honda is getting back into the game. I've been scheming to ditch my TSX for a Focus ST, but I think I have to learn more about the upcoming Civic Si first.

Civic Type R is probably going to be $35K-$40K range.
An ILX Type S would be, what, $40K-$45K? For an ILX?

And haven't you heard, Acura hates us.
It could happen, I think those numbers are all high.
First of all, the Civic Type R in England starts at 29,000 British Pounds, about $43,000 USD. Sounds like a lot, until you realize how much more cars are in other markets. A base model Civic Hatch with the same 1.8 motor in England is $26,000 USD and the base Civic 1.8 here is only about $18,000, so figure that cars in UK are 44% more expensive. This is all convoluted, but point is that the Civic Type R would be somewhere around $30,000, which makes sense, about $8000 more than a Civic Si. I know, it's more complicated than this, but that's about the best it gets so early on.
Acura typically undercuts competitors by a good amount, so if the ILX Type S competed with the S3, figure it would be about $35-37k base, which makes sense at multiple thousand above an equivalent Civic but still less than competition.
But who knows! Probably will never happen anyway.

^That's not true, AutoGuide talked with John Mendel from Honda, he said they hope to sell a few thousand a month and there will be no limit to sales numbers. Here's the article
