New Owner - Silver Moon 6MT (pics)

The ILX got tint & clear bra yesterday - a necessity for living in Arizona and doing as much highway travel as I do. Turned out nice.
More pics on the blog too: http://drivetofive.wordpress.com

PS: My friend went to AC for "Orion Music & More" too! lol...I'm heading to AC tonight for the weekend, celebrating fiance's sis bday.

Hey guys, quick update - check the blog if you get a chance.

Car has just over 4,600 miles on it now. I'm going to take it for its first oil change on Saturday even though the maintenance minder still says oil life 60%. I drove it all the way from Arizona to Idaho and back last week and it did awesome. Really a great road trip car. 31.3 mpg. It has now driven through 5 states (AZ/CA/UT/NV/ID). Crossing them off the list.

I probably won't be painting the roof on this one.
How was your trip? Orion was awesome. AC is a fun place - crowded, but fun!
Yeah it was spendy back in the day. Really glad I got the clear bra. It's saving the front end with all this highway travel I'm doing.
Yeah big bucks for sure.
That was a downgrade for sure!
I actually sat in the backseat for part of the drive home while my friend was at the wheel. It's roomy considering how small the car is. I'm 5'11 and had plenty of head and leg room.
True - best way to find out about fitment issues is just to go give one a try.
Awesome Chris! You should post some pictures. I saw that you already signed in at the "new owner check-in" thread.
I remember your car. Love that color. I still have my Legend and love it. You should get another one!
Love the pics Terry. Agreed, we need all the new ILX owners to be posting pics of theirs.
I don't mind it one bit. Enjoying the discussion and pics
Thanks! I agree, and pictures don't do the car justice - you've gotta see one in person sometime to appreciate it.
Definitely. The lip kit and spoiler make it look a lot sportier. You really can't go wrong either way - car overall has a great design. These small add-ons just accentuate the lines a bit more. Thanks!

also, consider vinyl wrap ?
Tyson what gear were you driving from your blog There are a couple sections of rural central Utah where speed limits are a generous 80 mph. The ILX is around 3,400 RPM at that speed but doesn’t drone or give the driver a headache, thanks to its extensive sound deadening.
My TSX at 80 mph runs well below 3k rpm and I have AT shouldn't both of our engine be the same rpm I mean tsx and your ilx must have similar engine?? Is it because I have AT and the ECU keeps at higher gears vs MT

Yeah I like the sporty add-ons, makes it unique and more aggressive.
Everything I've posted in here has been taken with my iPhone 4.
6th gear. Here's a pic from my blog that illustrates the gearing. Just over 80 mph at around 3400.
^^^^^
3400 rpm at 80 mph? That's approaching S2000 6th gear gearing. I suppose I could get used to that, but only because I own an S2000 and I'm used to the engine screaming at me on the freeway....I think the S2000's engine turns at a little over 4k rpm at 80 mph.

I turned over 5,000 miles yesterday.

And got some pics after the rainstorms.

I've seen the ILX in all of its seven colors now and I must say that it looks good in each one of them (but whose idea was it to delete the exhaust tips from it), but let's be realistic, with the recently announced rumored list of standard features for the Accord, the ILX is gonna need more than good looks to stand out. I understand that some shopping for the ILX would not even look at the Accord, but some others might and will. And it's only a matter of time before the Civic gets an update as well, closing the gap between the two.
Thanks!
Gotta keep on rolling!
Blurry iPhone pic from en route to dinner last night.

IMO, the Civic will close the gap because it needs to. It's more important for the corporate bottom line to sell 300,000 Civics a year than it is to sell 30K ILX (or 40K as the case may be). AND the only way to achieve that goal is to outsell the other competitors that DO NOT include the ILX, cars like Focus, Corolla, etc.
The thing is, people will cross shop cars between the two brands. Honda knows this and if the customer chooses the more 'practical' Accord or Civic over XYZ Acura model I'm guessing the company is ok with this. As long as they still buy H/A.
One point to consider, people don't buy cars for purely 'logical' reasons. For some the ILX may appeal because it's NOT a Civic, even if the Civic was all they needed. Maybe they just want to be unique? Ironically, people on these types of enthusiast boards may deride someone for making a 'stupid decision' because the Civic is a 'better buy'. Then that person would go buy a Civic Si and spend $4K on wheels and tires, a body kit, dynamat to quiet the car down and an HID retrofit kit to make his car unique. He'd then proclaim how much he saved over an ILX and he has an LSD. Personally, I'd just buy the 'better' car (for me) and think that modding is silly. But to others, modding is part of the hobby and in expression of their individuality. To each his own I say.
Fyi, there is a silver manual ILX over at Weir Canyon Acura that they are having a tough time selling. It was there 2wks ago when I had the bumper applique installed and it was still there yeserday. I spoke to a mngr and he mentioned they haven't had any inquiries on it.....dlr trade or customer wise. Its been there about 3wks. I dont think its entirely true but fyi.....

Quoted for awesomeness. I agree 100%.
Traditionally, buyers buy the 'mainstream' version of the sedan platform in question 10:1. ie. 10 Accords sold for every 1 TL, or 10 Civic sold for every one Integra/RSX/ILX. I fully expect this ratio to continue and I'm guessing that Honda does too.

The ILX leaves Tuesday for a 3,800+ mile round trip from Phoenix, Arizona to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and back. I'll be attending the 8th annual National Acura Legend Meet. I've been to all 7 prior events. Only difference is, this year I'm taking the new car and giving the Legend a rest.

Thank ya! If I was heading anywhere near Ohio I'd insist that we meet up. Maybe next year...
Side note, just walked out into the parking lot after getting a haircut this afternoon and saw a 'twin' of sorts parked next to mine. 2012 TSX SE Silver Moon. Interesting to see them side by side.

Your Legend had nothing but preventive maintenance done to it from what I could see from what was listed.
