MPG on hybrid
MPG on hybrid
Have been driving my Hybrid w/ tech Package or a few weeks. First week, I was averaging 38 MPG, now I am consistently doing 43. I do mostly HW driving, and try to watch how I drive. But I do downshift to accelerate and also do AC.
Anyone else with hybrid want to share what they are seeing?

Inhabitat got 44 mpg in the hybrid ILX WITHOUT using the Econ button, and driving similarly to you.

So it appears that Acura could be underestimating the mileage? If so, this would be a PR boon for Acura.
BTW, WELCOME to Acurazine, SantaBarbaran. It appears you are ILX owner #3 on the site and the first hybrid owner. Please post your purchase details in the ILX owner sign-in thread-HERE.
Could you share your other driving impressions of the ILX, interior, etc., as well?

For the love of God, please tell me why Premium gasoline is recommended in the ILX? Isn't the hybrid the same thing as the one in the civic? Has anyone tried putting regular in the hybrid and 2.0L engine? Notice any changes in mpg?
It would seem, especially when Lexus and Buick have moved to regular in their lower models, that Acura should be doing the same to stay competitive. Regular should be what is required in a vehicle like the ILX.

I'm curious to know if the original poster is going by the mid estimate on the cars dash, or going by miles traveled/gallons.
On my TSX, the mid says 1.5 mpg better than it comes out to in real life.
Oh, and congratz on the new car, I think they look real nice.

LoL! I mean, the mpg that some reviewers and new owners are getting out of the hybrid are fantastic, but it is with premium gas. I'd be interested to see if that same mpg can be obtained with regular gas. If you could get the same mpg out of the hybrid and 2.0L I4 with regular gas then that would be pretty impressive and just add to even a greater bang for your buck value if you got the ILX, and you'd be in an Acura, which is a hell of a lot nicer than a Civic.

Based on the compression ratio, I don't think there's a need to use premium fuel for the ILX hybrid. The compress ratio isn't that high that it would require higher octane.....But for a new ILX owner, they'd most likely want to stay safe and fill the car with premium fuel.

We test drove an ILX Hybrid today and after a 30 minute drive where we both drove fairly conservatively, but in traffic and in 95+ degree heat we only were showing 30 mpg on the MID (which would mean 28 in reality). It appeared the battery never achieved a full charge during this time so we're not sure what the car is capable of achieving. The dealer said the car was running on on premium and mileage would be slightly worse on regular. But, after returning to the dealership and asking whether premium was recommended or required to get the rated mileage there was a big debate and the sales guys didn't agree on the answer. We're planning to drive it again when the battery is fully charge to see how well it does in typical summer city driving.
I hover around 5L/100 km when I'm on the highway. The gas needle doesn't even budge.
2.0 I4 here. Car states I'm getting 9.8L/100 km, although I'm sure in reality it's around the 7L mark as the number was initially close to 11L because of my hot foot and it's been going down ever since. I'll reset that gauge and give you a real number after a couple days of driving.
