Lowering Springs Question

I have a 2.4 and im looking for a mild drop something comfortable montreal quebec roads have potholes the size of a small lake lol

i had h&r sports on my previous car a 2009 bmw 328 and they were harsh and sagged alot.

i always had good experiences with eibach.

so does someone know for sure if i can install 2013 civic si sedan springs on my 2.4 ilx ??

id really like to have a concrete answer cause everything ive been looking into doesnt really tell me

thanks

You gotta search more man.
You'll find your answer just a few threads under the one you started.

Yes, you can use any suspension parts found on the 9th gen civic on the ILX

I think I'm going with Tein. I spoke to a rep in Houston today that sells them all. I was sold on them, from the info he gave, that met my wants.

I should have pictures of the Eibach Pro-kit here sometime this week. For some reason my iPhone won't save any pictures that I am taking, but I will have my buddy send them to me once the install in complete on Wednesday next week.

I'm in the same situation as you and went with the Tein springs because of our potholes and winter.

Anyone has any questions about them feel free to ask me here. =)

Honestly, the differences at this point are negligible. It is the difference between being able to clear a 4in pothole to a 4.3in pot hole.
Average difference between springs is a 0.3in drop. Largest is 0.4 from H&R front to Tein front. Eibach to tein is 0-0.1in difference h&r to eibach 0.2-0.3 and tein to h&r 0.3-0.4in.

In the end, a foot worth of applied brakes will help against a pot hole far more than your choice between the 3 companies.
And you'd be surprised how similar all our roads are. Sure some are worse than others but Im willing to bet what I drive on in LA is just as bad.

Are you measuring the snow bank before you get in your car because if your car is going to get stuck its going to get stuck. 0.4 doesnt mean shit in snow like that. I could be wrong but logically thinking the 0.4 difference will only allow you to clear snow 0.4 inches deeper. Difference there is negligible.

When it comes to potholes same rules apply. Youll only have an extra .4 clearance and thats the max.

Sorry, my point is just the differences are minimal at best and we already have a thread on the most relevant page with all this info PLUS MORE. The OP should be directed to the old thread before populating this one.

You may have to live here to understand, but when it comes to daily driving a lowered card year round, ground clearance even at .4 when driving around can make all the difference between using your car as a $30,000 snow shovel and what not.

Okay.
Just don't drive any passengers or you might lose that 0.4in.

Both of you are pretty much bang on anyway haha. Although we are arguing over half an inch (seems silly), but half an inch is another half an inch of clearance.

Honestly I went with the modest of all the springs drop wise for that reason. I drove my cobalt with a 3" drop on coilovers. Car looked Sweeeet, for about 2 months haha. Keeping the acura intact as long as possible and still looking alright was my goal.

I was only stating that the difference is negligible. I didnt say it wasnt there. Half an in clearance is half an inch. Chances are if youre worried about half an inch youre probably already operating a 30,000 $ snow plow.

My thoughts are save up longer and get coilovers then you can ride low when the weather allows for it and when the winter comes raise it up so you dont kill your 25-30K car.

Why rush a mod thats not going to give you the look your really after and with a static drop you dont have a choice if its performance only your after and drop is not very important, go for Swift springs

its not a question of budget. im not looking for a low drop i just want something clean just to close up the gap abit and not lose comfort. but thx for all the suggestions now can someone tell me if theres slots in the back of the wheels for the excess stud sticking out from spacers ?

Can you not check yourself?
Cleaning my wheels up for paint either tonight or tomorrow so ill get you an answer by tomorrow.

And if cost isnt a big deal definitely go with coilovers. Tein street or advanced will work fine. This way you can close the wheel gap but maintain similar ride quality. All the springs mentioned will reduce ride quality when smoothness is in mind.

I'll be waiting for this. My decision has come down to either Eibach Pro-kit or Tein S.

What are you people waiting for an invite?
H&r is the lowest... skunk2 I guess will go lower.
Tein is the heighest. Eibach is right under tein... all so close they look the same. Buy whatever brand name sounds the coolest.

And our stock wheels do have spaces for the studs when running spacers. I just checked.

According to all the specs, you are correct about the height of the different springs, but when fellow ilx owners like sumo-ilx, state that the tein springs actually appear to be lower that what tein states on their site, I start second guessing. 0.2 or 0.3mm may not be much of a difference, but I would like to install the least aggressive drop of the three. Also, Eibach in theory should fit the ilx with no problems, but at this point, its still an unknown.

Least aggressive drop + aggressive performance = Swift Springs

FYI Swift Springs USA shows 2012 civic springs are listed as TBA so hopefully they will be available soon. Most their springs drop about .8 - 1inch.

I believe it was I that stated the Teins looked to go lower than advertised... but they are still higher than the h&r as advertised.

I dont understand why someone would want eibachs made for the civic over teins or h&rs made for the car they drive. If the eibach comes with a normal limited warranty it will be void installed on an ILX. Go with the springs made for your car. YES THE EIBACH WILL FIT but eibach wont accept a call saying they broke their ILX.

Lastly, the drop range is ALWAYS AN APPROXIMATE. Companies dont guarantee how low their springs will drop your car so these numbers aren't exact anyways. Hence why it looks like the teins drop lower than 1.1

I dont mean to be a dick but I this thread should have died after the OPs answer was given by trent. It should have died before that after I gave the OP a place to look.
The info is out there, one only has to look harder. This thread is pointless when we have all this info in one spot WITH pictures.
