ILX Tint advice

Hey guys, I check in here once in a while. I currently have a Bellanova White ILX Hybrid w/ Tech with Ebony interior. Before the summer rolls around, I'm thinking about getting my car tinted. I live in Connecticut, where the laws are somewhat relaxed - 35% sides and any% back (as long as you have side mirrors). I'm thinking about doing 20% rear and 35% sides.

Visually, does anyone have tints on their ILX? (preferably white w/ black interior?) and willing to share pics? ILX's are pretty rare in my neck of the woods. 99% of the time I see one is the one that my copycat driver has or the fleet of ILX's an Acura ~5 miles away gives out as service loaners.

Now, something that has been preventing me from tinting for a year is that while I live in Connecticut (Halfway between New Haven & Hartford), I do drive into New York and Massachusetts regularly (every 2 or 3 weeks), and drive down to Washington, DC every 2 months or so. Although I'll have legal tint for CT, will the state or local PD in other states give me a hard time?

I live in MD where the tint law is 35%. I have 20% all around and haven't had any issues thus far. In the past, I have been pulled over specifically for the same issue on my TSX. Had to get it removed via police work order. Driving to other states isn't an issue just as long the tint matches the laws of your home state on your registration. In DC the law is 50%, but they won't give you a hard time.

Mine has the ivory interior, but this hopefully gives you some idea of how the tint looks against Bellanova White.

The ILX makes a total of four cars I've owned over the past 15 years with 20% on all side windows and the back glass. I've never been pulled over for the tint, or cited for it during a stop, in New Mexico, California or Texas.

I have 3m tint on all windows, don't know the %, but I'm pretty sure its 20% on the side windows, limo on back windshield, and the lightest one (with the highest heat reduction possible) on the front. I have yet to get pulled over. I have black interior in California - my gawd - I was baking alive! I also bought a Junction Produce dashmat - the Tint guy said that is the #1 heat factor in the interior. The dash gets all hot and retains heat. when he pinted that out to me I touched the dash and it was freaking baking! Although I use to be against them (i just thought they looked weird), I'm gonna buy one of those windshield heat/ sunshade cover things for the front too. sheesh summer is coming quick

I have 5% all around and have only been pulled over once for it (today actually) and all I need to do is provide a picture of the car without tint on the front windows anymore (easily done with photoshop or take a picture before you tint it). So I say call your local courthouse and say you got a ticket for tint and ask what is required for dismissal....If its as easy as it is here in Texas I say go as dark as you'd like. Otherwise just do the standard 25% which is the requirement for most states.

Ah - Thanks for sharing - Seems like 20% all around is too dark for my taste (in addition to my black interior... 35% sides and 20% rear seem likely for me now.. Some people have even asked if I had a light tint on my car

Seems like the consensus is that as long as I'm legal in CT, I should be okay in other states .. I heard that CT actually requires a sticker on all after market tinted windows & an official document in the car at all times saying the tint is legal... Hopefully that will have the police let me go in any other state if they decide to pick on me

tinting % wise, is a personal preference. as they say, the darker the more likely you will be pull over for a fix it ticket. personally i like my 15% on the back rear windows and 35% in the front.. i already have black interior, so it gives it already a darker illusion. i like darker windows for drive-bys, but not so much putting the car in reverse lol. so much luck on what you wanna do and hopefully you wont get pulled over. good day.

Funny thing happened last night. Was driving home around midnight, then I see a cop trailing me ~1/4 mile before my house. I keep driving, and as I'm pulling into my driveway, he pulls me over... Yes in my own driveway. He pulled me over for having "tinted windows" however, I did not have a chance to get my car tinted yet. This experience is making me reconsider the tints...

I have 15% tint all around... I live in Cali. I have had 2 tint tickets so far.

I have been looking at a lot of VIP builds and see many dont use tint PERIOD. So its making me feel okay having no tint or just light tint. So I am going to redo the front much lighter. I am going to leave the very back window at it's 15% then do the rear passenger windows a shade in between.

It's either that or rock no tint period and leave 15% in the rear which I feel is too much contrast.

I have a 2004 clk500, and i have have 15% on the back 3 glasses and 20% on passenger and driver side....not once did I have any problems with cops. that may be cuz the interior on the benz was like gray. my ILX on the other hand...being that the interior is black, I can see why it would be a bigger problem. any light going inside will just get absorbed making it much harder for cops to look in.

Many people think I have light tints on my car (white w/ black leather interior) when there really isn't... and my town's cops are really a pain in the ass about things like this (We used to have a problem with street racers drifting in parking lots and loitering in parking lots at night)

Finally had a chance to get my ILX tinted. Went with SunTek Carbon tint. 35% sides and 20% rear (I believe the sides are actually 40% or so so that with the factory "tint" it comes out to 35% so that it is legal in CT)

I have 35% all around and it fits my needs just fine in Texas. I also have a black interior so it may look a little darker inside than it really is. I don't want to have to worry about getting pulled over for tint.
