Nice! Man some 18 inch 5 spoke wheels with a nice drop will make this car look so classy.

This car does not look like a civic! What percentage tints are those, by the way? I have the voucher to get mine done so
I need ideas.

I have a black hybrid too and wanted to upgrade the wheels, however my dealer and the customer support people at Acura did not recommend upgrading the wheels as it would void the warranty and mess with the car's performance. I still want to upgrade. If you don't mind let us know how your car does with the new wheels. Thanks and it looks great!

If I'm not mistaken, those wheels weigh less than the stock hybrid wheels...that should improve performance

There is no possible reason wheels would void your warranty.. they fed you a spoon full of poop.

Actually, wheels can mess your car up...if he put big / heavy 20" wheels it'd put extra strain on the axles and interconnected components. I saw the trans get mauled on a turbo civic that had 20" wheels.

The tints are 15% all around. The car performs just about the same I'm still getting an average of 40mpg with lowest being 37mpg. It does have more road noise due to lower profile tires but other than that it's business as usual

I had Acura's 17" ILX upgraded wheels added to my car when purchasing it and when the Sales Manager went to order them he was told the hybrid was not compatible with the larger wheels and that if they put them on Acura would not warrant any issues that developed. I did not believe them so I called a dealer in another city as well as Acura customer service and was basically told the same thing. Its odd as other manufacturers do offer wheel upgrades for their hybrids. Not sure why Acura is missing the boat here...

It's not compatible because it's not on their computer system as an option.. the same way a hybrid spoiler isn't compatible on a regular model.. Let's all stop thinking these representatives of dealerships/Acura actually know anything.. they don't. Putting 17" wheels or even 18" for that matter at a reasonable width and offset is going to do 0 things to your car.. you might throw your speedo by 3% at the most and lose 1mpg

Sorry I thought we were talking about wheels from an intelligent persons standpoint not a moron.. Sorry, OP yes if you put 26s on your car you might bust your fenders and the warranty wont cover that.

**by moronI wasn't suggesting you, Speed.. I was talking about someone that would put oversized wheels on a car.. that's just plain stupid.

Exactly! The Lexus CT200h has a whole array of upgrades and wheel options.

P.s. the lexus has a really nice interior for the price.

Proof to that is in the fact the managers of dealerships trying to tell people they will lose their warranty if they put different wheels on... yeah, okay. How are they going to PROVE the wheels did anything? They can't.. gimme my warranty work or talk to the law man!

its an improvement.. but I think 18s would look better on this car. I don't know why even 17's look so tiny on the ILX, when its a compact car. I was so set on ordering a set of 17x8s too.. Looks like I'll have to bump that up.

It's the way Acura does the wheel wells and body lines.. all Acuras look better with larger wheels. TSX 19" looked perfect.. I think on this car 18" will be perfect or 17" if lowered quite a bit.

I'm looking at the lowering route instead of replacing the wheels. I wonder if Heeltoe will give me a discount by being one of the first ILX owners to test the coilovers and using my car for photos?

For Tein coilovers? It maybe worth a shot but TEIN posted pictures of an ILX with the coilovers on and Evasive used them on the SEMA car. You might try D2 which I dont think Heeltoe sells.

i was considering doing this as well. a set of Tein Advance Coilovers and some wider tires with a pair of 10mm spacers to bump the wheels out a bit.

But decided to do it the funner way. I got a good deal on some nice Work Wheels. I was thinking about 17x8, but definitely gotta go 18x8 now that I saw how OP's ILX looks with the type-s wheels. 17s definitely look better than the hybrid 16s, but 18s will look more proportional, i thinks.

With the talk of the non-upgradable 16" hybrid wheels, I think lowering is my only way to enhance the suspension and look

No matter if you keep stock wheels or upgrade to different ones you're enhancing the look of your car. This "non-upgradable" talk is nonexistent.. THE WHEELS CAN BE SWAPPED, YOU WILL NOT HURT YOUR CAR. Pick a proper offset and a reasonable size wheel and you will see 0 issues and they can't just void your warranty. Springs are more likely to void warranties on your control arms, shocks, struts, ball joints ect.. DO NOT let some DEALERSHIP tell you wheels are gonna break anything or void your warranty.. That's silly buy wheels that fit the car, period.
