ILX Dynamic mini build from Calgary, Alberta

I started working with Acura 4 months ago and at first the ILX didnt really catch my eye. I was set on a TL - AWD 6 speed manual but at this time in my life its a little over my budget and my manager told me there was no more manual TL's in western Canada.

My colleague was looking to trade his ILX for a TL AWD and I jumped on the opportunity to take over his lease.

The car: 2013 Acura ILX Dynamic with 9000kms, all stock

Planned mods:

-tint
-K&N Typhoon Intake
-H&R springs
-Lamin-X headlight and foglight film
-RV6 downpipe? (still deciding)

When I picked it up:

After tint:

Looking good. I would definitely suggest the H&Rs. Give a real healthy drop compared to tein and eibach.
k&n intake will be a great investment as well. It'd be the first 2.4 with a SRI/CAI intake. So far only plain CAIs have hit the 2.4s here. Im more of a fan of the short ram intakes with ducting for cold air like the typhoon or the takeda i picked up. Great start!

Thanks for all the great comments guys!

UPDATE:

So I got my K&N Typhoon intake and my H&R springs yesterday! My dealership was kinda enough to squeeze me the next day for my spring install.

Getting ready for the install:

I was SO EXCITED to see what the outcome was therefore I took a peek in the service bay every 10mins hahaha

Voila!

Our alignment machine does not like lowered cars haha

Finished product!

Looks good. Any shots of the in intake?

When you say your dealer what do you mean? You had the acura dealer install your springs for you?

Thanks! I have yet to install the intake yet, gonna do that with a buddy on Friday.

I work for my local Acura dealership as a sales consultant so I just had them do it while I work. I don't have that many tools at home nor do I have enough space.

They charged me 4 hours of labour at a discounted rate. They did do an alignment after the install and thats when I found out that I needed a camber kit to adjust the rears haha

WOW! Installed the K&N Typhoon intake tonight, and what a difference! I never had any type of intake installed to any of my cars so maybe I'm over reacting a little haha

Youll def hear it. No doubt about that. But intake gains are so minimal if anything; no way people can feel it.
If you look on youtube for mightycarmods they have have a segment talking about pod filters and cold air intakes. They dyno prove different intake types and have a specialist explain almost a formula for the minimal gains needed to be felt by the driver.

Great looking intake. Looks good next to the k24 vc. Someone needs to pick up a carbon fiber cover off the k20s. Hint hint.

Awesome. Glad to see someone getting ahead of the game.
I really need to stop smoking if I want to buy more car shit.

Ive found a pulley set, downpipe, and TB spacer as well. Check out the ZDX throttle body for something larger than our oem one.

A quick review for the RV6 downpipe:

Much more throatier noise all across the rev range, even when starting up too. It sounds like you have an aftermarket exhaust when starting up.

Power did increase a little from low to mid range. One little down fall, letting foot off the gas, theres quite a loud drone that comes through the cabin. At first, I didn't like it but I kinda of got used to it now

Looks good. I wonder if the 2.4 has a similar enough tb as the 2.0 to work. Great upgrades, all of which I plan to get done after the new year... minus the camber plates. I like my camber.

Any other suspension work planned?

Thanks for the positive feedback!

I believe the 2.0 has a smaller TB? Not 100% sure though

I think the intake (which you have already), the DP is a great addition! You will love it

Nah, no suspension work planned but I'm contemplating getting an Eibach RSB. Any experience with them or just RSB in general?

For the integra I had eibach 24mm I believe. This time around Ill probably go with a 22mm and id be happy with eibach again so Id suggest them for sure. Had some springs from them at one point as well. Good company.

Downpipe is definitely a want but RV6 doesnt make one for us. I can go with a megan DP but they dont get the greatest reviews so not sure. Looking at picking up a nice axle back and get magnaflow to repipe the rest of the exhaust up to the DP then I'll have to make a choice what to do with the DP.

hmm..I might just get some Eibach RSB though, how did you find the handling after? Less roll around corners?

What axel back have you been eyeing on? I want an exhaust system but doesn't seem like companies are making one specific for the ILX yet

No one is making much of anything for the ILX.
A civic si axle back should fit fine minus the tip hitting the bumper. Youd have to put a turn down in instead.

Id assume a si catback should fit as well minus the tip.

Hey guys, sorry for the delayed update. Since my last post, I did a few more things:
- 18 Volk TE37 wrapped with Michelin Pilot Super Sport (awesome tires)
- Thule roof rack with 2 bike attachments (for my DH rigs)
- LED DRL
- 3000k (yellow) HID fogs

Still coming:
- exhaust?
- RSB (if anyone has any suggestions as to which one to get, comment below!)
- spacers in the back

RSB = Progress tech 24mm, or 22mm. Eibach 19mm, or CT engineering 19mm. Exhaust is couple weeks away if you want a legit bolton made specific for the ILX -2.5 piping (was what they told me when I test fitted almost 6 months ago, could have changed, doubt it tho. Volks look dope, great color contrast /choice. Not a fan of the bike rack, mostly because tards out here in Cali get them just to stick a crapload of stickers on it/their car, and not ever actually using them. But since you actually use it

Also recommend the Acura OEM bodykit and rear spoiler - C'mon use that discount man! And I'm getting test fit for prototype fitment of window visors "soon", will be sure to post up where to order once they come out (if I find out where to, from the distributor).

Thanks for the recommendations and input! I've never put RSB on any car before, so the thicker it is, the more rigidity it has? Also, I hear FWD cars only need RSB and not FSB. Is that true?

And yep, I actually use my bike rack! I will post pics soon when I hit the mountains in a few weeks

Looking good.

The volks in 18 dont look too aggressive.

Gives it a good functional look though!! I like.
Roof rack isnt my thing but if you need it you need it.

how long are your load bars? The website recommend 58" bars but I think its too much for our car.
I am also looking to get a roof rack with a bike attachment as well.
Also if you don't mind, how much did you pay for the kit and where?

Car looks good btw. Good to see fellow Canadian

Yea I thought 58" load bars was a little too much. My set up is Thule 480 Traverse foot pack and 53" load bars which I bought used on kijiji. My 2 bike attachment are Thule sidearm 594XT which I bought from here:
http://www.orsracksdirect.com/thule-...bike-rack.html

The Thule sidearm is one of the best on the market because it does not contact the frame at all. I highly recommend it!

Thanks! The lamin-x on the headlight is quite time consuming because of the curvature of the headlight especially when it wraps around to the amber markers. It took me about 2 hours to make it the way I like it without any bubbles.

It is actually very easy to come off. Heat it up with a hair dryer on the corner and just start peeling. No residue at all.
