Hybrid Rear Spoiler
Great Question! I'm happy to say that the heavier duty trunk springs were not required! The trunk lid stays open just fine when fully extended. When you pop open the trunk, it lifts approximately 3 inches above the trunk sill which to me is better than having it open completely to catch a gust of wind. The spoiler itself is quite light, being constructed of ABS plastic.

I'll do the Pax front seat floor with Fat mat and then maybe under the dash with foam sheeting. I'm just checking any thing that the foam might interfere with under the dash first.
Have you seen the generic lighted LED sills on Ebay for under 30 bucks? Seems like it would not be hard to tap into the door light switches. Anyone got a wiring diagram (s) for this car?

The spoiler was 185 bucks shipped from Delray Acura.
No smell from the Fat Mat which is like Dynamat and about the same thickness. They have a durable aluminum covering on the inside facing. I have used this material on two classic cars and two Hondas and can attest to what a great job it will do in noise abatement. The 50 square ft package of Fat Mat went or 78 bucks shipped and included a small roller and knife bought from fatmat.com with a shipping weight of 15 pounds. I figure this will do the whole car OK.

Get it so we don't end up with overly similar builds! I am gonna wait for the $400 spoiler personally.. I like how it wraps around the back too vs just sitting on top.
For the sound deadener you will want to find something that is Butyl Based. Otherwise the material melts and smells. Fat Matt works well. I also wanted to pick up a can of Second Skin Spectrum and put the car on the lift to sound deaden under the car.
As for the spoiler...
Looks awesome. Going to probably grab one in the next month or so.

I still wish they made an OEM version with illuminated back door sills like they have for the Accord.

Challenge accepted! And, we're talking actual mods, not OEM accessories, window tint, ect.
CAI, Exhaust, Coils, Sway-bar.. anything of that nature, if you beat me to it I'll mail you a box of Oreos

I know you already got that RSB too but I'll be making some moves soon
Not drilling holes to me is a good thing! Eight or nine trunk holes on the install of the hybrid spoiler seems excessive. The only thing I could think of is that maybe the spoiler might warp slightly if it were in the darker colors since it is made out of ABS. I really doubt it will since I put one on with 3 M tape on my dark red 2009 Civic with no problems. Was thinking that one could use 3 M trim tape and drill just 3 holes, one near the center, and one on each side. Still you would have to be right on the money with the holes to get a proper fit. It would be nice it they supplied a paper template for the holes to be drilled.
I wish that I would have known that the 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment Tape would be so difficult to find, so that I could have ordered it online. Today I went to Advance Auto Parts, Autozone, Carquest, NAPA, and finally O'Reilly where I finally found the tape. Unfortunately they had way more than I needed (20 yards) and no smaller package. It cost me $44. That's just a heads up if you're trying to do this mod. Many places had 3M Molding Tape, but that's not what you want based on other spoiler install guides I have read.
Wish I had known about the Acrylic tape you are using. Great research! I did use the 3 M double sided molding tape, (lots of it!)so far with good results, on my spoiler. I used a hair dryer at mid heat setting to get a good bond for the tape. Also used alcohol prep pads to clean the trunk area prior to the install.
In regards to the other non hybrid spoiler, I believe you get a template to drill the holes with and since there are only a few holes, that might be better than the tape as I'm told that spoiler weighs quite a bit more.

I concur with robtroxel regarding the other spoiler, I would probably just drop the holes in it, since the templates are included.
The Acryllic tape is labelled:
"High Performance Excellent Adhesion/OEM-Approved"
"Body side moldings - Claddings - Rocker panel trim - Wheel flares - Other exterior trim parts"

I'll take some photos of my install in a little while and post. I'm not really thrilled with how it turned out, but I'm kind of anal. Wanna get your opinions when I post the photos. I may take it to a body shop and have them drill and install it properly. To me, the spacing that the tape added (0.045 inch) makes the spoiler stick off a little too much.
On that note: robtroxel, did you remove the foam padding from your spoiler or tape over it?
