headlight mod - removing the orange
Has anyone tried to pull apart the headlights and pull out the orange piece? I did this to my civic back in the day, and was wondering if it can be done on the ILX, if it just pops out or not. Just thought it would look clean without it

i might just do that, but i am leaning towards ordering a new set of headlights to try them on those first just in case i mess it up. there are a couple other things i want to try and get done before I try and go do something that I'm not too sure will work out.
and there a lot of spiffy diyers out there that are a lot better at this than i am haha. I was just seeing if anyone had done this, i would be a lot more confident about doing it if someone had already tried and got it done successfully.

Because CDM ilx headlights aren't the easiest thing to find. I've looked.
Unless you can find a Chinese oem parts site you can read or know a Chinese man parting out a rear end wrecked ilx than good luck!!

I don't get it... do they just spray your headlights?

Yes. They're a common feature on European cars, too, and are particularly useful in winter for clearing road salt and grime from the lens.
I find them desirable not from necessity, but because they're yet another example of how our cars have been discontented relative to JDM and Chinese-market models.

All 3 of my Audi's have the headlight washers...
That is a 96, 2001, and 2002
Not that hard of a technology to implement... it's just an extra hose that runs down to the bumper and a switch for the pump.

Just doesnt seem very effective without a wiper.

Advanced
very effective since the wind air dries it.
I used to have the wipers on the volvos, and when they moved to the washer only, the washer is high pressure, so it works well.
This past winter was brutal for the salt/dirt so i really missed them.
These xenons are not particularly bright to begin with, so when the lenses get dirty, very little light on the road.
you need new bumpers, the pop up washer, and washer pump and software to activate them when you use your windshield washers.

Maybe Im thinking too far into it. I just dont see a little nozzle alone cleaning the bug grim off my wipers when my hose alone wont do it.

For the amber lens, I looked at it last night and I don't think removing it would be a good idea.
What's underneath is not finished that well IMO, so unless you darken it or replace it with a clear one (which I don't think exist), I woudn't do it.
Also, for the jewel eye headlights, those things are not cheap!
I considered that too but then looked at the prices for the '14 MDX and 14'RLX over at Bernardi and they are like $1,500-$2,000 a pair! :0

If anyone has any idea on where I can get a pair of those CDM lights, any info would be much appreciated, I can't seem to find anything at all, and I really like the look of having no orange insert. And the jewel lights look pretty dope too, but 1500-2000 might be a little too rich for my blood =/

I already stated they are very hard to find. No one here is going to have info my friend.

Itll turn out nice for a smoked blacked out look. Id much rather clear or no amber. Soonr or later we will be able to get our hands on some CDM headlights or maybe even just purchase the CDM clear diffusers.
