Gas tank noises?

So, I had an opportunity to drive a rental ILX from the dealership for 4 days and this was the main wtf to me besides the HP. ;D

Last night I drove up my driveway which is a slight incline and turned off the car as soon I parked. I did drive a bit spirited up the driveway but regardless as soon as the engine was off and all was silent, I heard a swishy sloshy noise from the back which scared the crap out of me. It wasn't a sound that you would have to actually concentrate to hear, it was loud. At first I thought someone was in the trunk of the car but I soon realized it was liquid moving back and forth. I don't have any liquids in the car so it had to be the tank.

Anyone else heard this noise before? Never heard it any other car.

2G TSX has a sloshy tank when it's full. Kind of annoying.

Strange that Acura's would have that issue.. I thought it was just the ILX with the issue but guess not. Nevertheless, returned the ILX today and picked up my TL.

I'm not really sure if I would consider it a pain point. My ILX does it, my cobalt did it,my wifes Rav4 does it, and I have heard my Audi A4 do it.. just depends how fast the car gets parked and how full it is.

+1. I can't recall a vehicle I've owned in which you couldn't hear the fuel sloshing around the tank once parked in certain circumstances. I've heard it in my ILX, too, and never considered it an issue.

Eh, the ILX was only a rental for a couple days so it wasn't an issue that I seriously hated however it was the first Acura that I've heard it from. (Owned an 05 TSX, 12 RDX, and 13 TL/ Driven a 10 MDX and 09 RL) I was just curious if anyone else had the same problem but it seems that its not that uncommon.

I didn't mean to come across harsh, i just think it's a silly reason to knock the car. I wonder if there is a shaping difference that makes some tanks immune to the slosh noise compared to others.

Me too. My 05 (almost 8 years), the 07 (approaching 7 years), and now a year with the 010, I've never once heard a peep from any of the gas tanks (and we always fill them; none of that "give me $20 worth BS"). Also, I don't recall ever reading any reports of a sloshing gas tank on either of the TSX forums. The ILX on the other hand . . ..

Haha, no worries! Even though the ILX is still a great car in its own way, I just hate having small issues like this and would ultimately steer me away from purchasing the vehicle. (HP and rear suspension taken into consideration as well)
