Front license plate?
Front license plate?
I own a 16 ilx and I've seen some without the front license plate and it looks really good and clean but I was wondering if it's legal in California and also has anyone removed the front plate?
On a side note what do you guys think about debadging the ilx on the back?

Im sure there are a few threads on debadging. Though I am sure they are plenty barried so no harm no searching for them. But from what I remember debaging the trunk had a warm welcome with most of the members.
I personally dont like to debadge my cars. I like making them look different then people say "wtf is that? thats an ILX? whoa" verse simply "wtf is that?"
To each their own though.
As for the front plate. I took my front plate off. I live in cali. Yes it is illegal. Yes cops will hand out tickets for them. They are fix it tickets. From what I hear from others the fines for the ticket can be as bad as 60-80 bucks.
For me however I have received 2 no front plate tickets. And I still have no front plate. Fuck the police! ahahaha
My fix it tickets in this area are only 20$ for everything. You get the ticket and wait a month for the mailed copy. With that I got to my local CHP office which is actually only 10 minutes from my house. I bring in the ticket, $20, and the front plate attached to my car. Cop sees the front plate, signs off ticket, takes my 20. And Im done. Go home, take the plate back off. Good to go. LMAO
So the question is... are you okay with those fees? I see them as an annual membership to the exclusive no front plate club. In my area the annual membership fee runs about $15. Thats only 15 bucks a year to run no plates! ...I got two tickets at 20 a pop. Its actually been almost 3 years so on average in tickets I have spent 15 a year for no front plates.

TL;DR? California likes to issue 2 plates so you can put one on the car and hang one in your garage.

It is unfortunate that there are other alternatives to mount the plate without having to drill holes in the bumper.
In my IS, at least the F sport grill has enough openings in the mesh and I could use a multipurpose bracket and mount it via tie wraps and does an amazing job!

Having been pulled over for speeding the cop didnt care about my %5 tint windows and no front license plate, Although in defense, I'm prepared to say the dealer never issued my front license plate and never installed it.
Pretty sure in cali that wont get you out of a ticket. Theyll just claim you know the laws or should if you dont.

Dealers don't issue license plates. The DMV does. And they always issue 2 because CA law requires 2.
