Good morning all! So taking the same route to work every morning, I deal with an extremely harsh road that has multiple bumps across the entire street almost like a speed bump and my car is very harsh going over them. After this morning, I'm not sure how much more I can take. I knew the 2016's suspension was stiffer, but man... this is just brutal. My wife and I will actually be having our first child in June and I'm honestly scared to have a baby in the back of this car with how stiff this suspension is.
Is anyone else having the same issue with their suspension being so stiff that some bumps actually hurt you? I've heard of people purchasing cars before and the dealerships forgot to remove something in the suspension. I'm wondering if this has happened to me? All I can picture is having a car seat in the back and my poor child being hurt by this car going over a bump in the road.
And here my 2 year old daughter absolutely loves my 00Civic on Skunk2 Pro-C Coilovers (on full polly bushings and spherical bearings), Begs for it every morning and runs to it like its the best thing ever.
How has this 'Very Harsh' feeling only cropped up now?
1. I don't think HondAcura ships their vehicles with the suspension blocks you alluded to in the OP. More of a VW problem - and you'd know because there would be near 0 compliance in the suspension; like blasting over a curb on your old Huffy. Teeth-chattering.
2. The ILX is assembled in Ohio, so they most likely wouldn't use them even if they did at a corporate level. The car's already here.
3. Go slower over those bumps.
4. The kiddo will be fine. Carseat is sortof designed to keep the little immobile meatsack safe from external impacts and jarring.
5. Go slower over those bumps!
until the kid starts egging you on to go faster. Then blast over them like you're back on the Huffy. Repeat. Squeals of joy!

HA! I would totally go slower over those bumps if I could. The speed limit is 45 on that road so obviously everyone is doing 50+.
If I take my wife's Murano to work, you can still feel them but man is that a plush ride compared to the ILX. Must be I'm getting old. With that said, after my lease is up on the ILX, I'll definitely be moving onto a cross-over/SUV or a truck. After a regular Civic, 3 Civic Si's, a WRX, a TSX, and an ILX... I think I'm over the car scene. Plus I hate having to depend on just my wife's vehicle to tow my sled in the winter.
Baby will be fine, I brought my newborn home in a '97 Integra scraping the ground.
Just take it easy over bumps as others have said, sounds like you just have some rough rounds where you live.
You have no idea! Syracuse is friggin pot hole central because of our harsh winters. It always blows my mind when I see people with ridiculously lowered cars in my area too and I have no idea how they do it.
...and here I intentionally run my PSI a little bit higher then factory, specifically for enhanced driving feel and reduced rolling resistance lol. And I have the 18" on mine. (I've got my tires dialed in to be @ 37 front, 35 rear once they fully warm up, though on cold mornings the tire pressure can drop to 33/32 until I get rolling for about 20min or so.
Its funny how pretty much every reviewer who tested vehicles with the standard 17" wheels and 18" Aspec wheels commented on how much 'smoother' and 'quieter' the ride was on the base 17" wheels. But I'm definitely willing to scarifies some ride comfort if it leads to a sharper handling vehicle.
