Dynamat or Sound Deadening

I've got the 2014 Base with "Premium Sound" system. But I am not that satisfied. I did some research as to what I can do to improve the sound. The consensus seems to be that adding speakers or modifying will not do much good. Instead, sound deadening is the way to go.

Has anyone done it and, if so, any pointers?

Thanks!

There is a thread showing the dismantle of front door panels, which could be beneficial.

I use products from Second Skin Audio as they tend to be pretty high quality, but the brand is up to you. Try to find a product that is Butyl based or it will melt in high heat.

The arm rests in my car were pain points and the rear decklid around the woofer.

I just bought an ILX on Sunday and am installing Hushmat on all four doors. Won't be for a couple of weeks but I've used Hushmat on my 2011 Honda CR-Z and it did wonders. It will definitely make the stock audio system sound better and make the ride noticeably quieter - great if anyone plans on putting after market exhaust/downpipe. I'll post something once it's done.

Congrats Lance! Welcome to the ILX family. I, like you, am new here as well.

I'll be waiting for your sound deadening stuff. I'll update you on my process as well.

Just go to any car audio forum, most have comparos of different sound deadening materials and the related costs. Thats what I did when I chose the sound deadening materials for my 07 Si, it worked great and I never had any issues with it melting and falling off in the TX heat

Got the Hushmat installed. Here's my 2 cents:

Our car already comes with "decent" sound deadening material on the doors, so improvements aren't as noticeable as older cars. A little better but might not be worth the money.

I have after market downpipe, cat, exhaust and I installed hushmat in the trunk (a ton of it plus the foam liner where I could) and that's where I've noticed a pretty big difference. I would say it eliminated at least 30% of the cabin noise that was caused by exhaust system - pretty happy with those results.
