Do the dash lights auto dim?

Just got a 2016 ilx, tech plus with aspec. I've noticed that the dash lights(navi, radio, buttons, cluster) don't dim when I turn on the headlights. Is that normal for this car?

Your brightness settings are likely on to the max, which would cause this.

IIRC, on the several 2016 ILX's I've had as loaners, the dash brightness is in the instrument cluster - The little knob thing (Similar to odometer button/knobs in older cars) that is right above the fuel gauge. Turn it to the left one notch - The brightness should be one less than the maximum for the lights to dim with the headlights.

This is correct. One additional behavior you'll see is that if you turn on headlights when it's bright out, the dash lights will not dim. They will only dim if it's dark enough to warrant dimming.

It would be funny if someone actually paid $40k. I paid $29.5k for my tech plus w/ aspec.

My gauge lighting isn't maxed out. I did check for that, since that was my suspicion at first. I have yet to notice the lights dimming when I turn on the headlights at night though.

I finally figured out that it does auto dim. I just had some settings incorrect. Boy do I feel relieved. For a second I thought the ilx didn't have this function. It would be annoying having a super bright navigation screen at night.

Mine dims out sometimes on its own. I drive 100% of the time with my headlights & fogs on (for safety, mostly). I've gone through 2 sets of foglight bulbs but the headlights and taillights are still amazingly original at 163,000 miles.

If you drive with the headlights on during the day, sometimes when you're under an overpass or in a tunnel, the dash will dim because the sunlight sensor thinks it's dark outside.
