Alternate tire sizes for a 1st gen 2.4L

I'd like to get some thicker sidewall tires for my ILX, for the winter. I read on another thread that someone is running 215/50R17s on their 2017 but I wonder if they would fit fine on 1st gen ILX?

I'm considering these two options:

1. Get 215/50R17s and have them installed on OEM wheels.
2. Drop to 16" wheels and get 205/55R16s. This is the 2013 ILX Base setup so I assume I wouldn't have any issues with this on my 2015 Dynamic?

I dont believe you can drop down to a 16in wheel due to the size of your brakes. You should be able to fit that tire size you are looking to get in the 17s

I think usdmJON has the most experience with wheel/tire/drop. https://acurazine.com/forums/acura-i.../#post16043549

went with 205/50/R17 and I don't think I'll ever go back to 215/45/R17. This car is the roughest ride I've ever had, and that extra bit of fat in the sidewall makes a world of difference.

I had a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports in 245 35 and it made the ride quite rough, but man did it do curves well. And it changed the gear ratio for quicker acceleration.
