Aftermarket options for a 2021 ILX A-Spec

Hey everyone! I'm a proud new owner of a 2021 A-Spec ILX Premium. I would love to get some wisdom and options regarding aftermarket parts for the car. First and foremost, I LOVE the car (handles well, took up it Angeles Crest and I kept up pretty well) the only thing I kinda don't like about the car is the single exhaust, and honestly how it sounds (would prefer 2 and louder LOL). I know it's not a sports car but I would love to upgrade it and build the car as a friendly "luxury" daily but I can play around with on the weekends. Looking at carID there aren't any performance parts available for the car, so any insight would be appreciated. This may be farrrr in the future, but some power performance upgrade suggestions would also be nice. Additionally, how does the warranty necessarily work? Bought the car straight off the lot, and I wouldn't want to void the warranty for no reason. Lastly, what're the thoughts on gas? Owner's manual says 91 is recommended, but Cali gas prices have been skyrocketing lately and being a broke college student, it's been digging in the pockets.

You can get away with less than premium fuel at the cost of power. 2014/15 Civic Si sway bars and cat back fit. The 'K' member must be dropped to change the front sway. I've done them on my '16. I did the rear first but I didn't like the oversteering (rotation) then did the front. With both, it handles neutral and flat. If you want dual exhaust you can run your crossover under the spare tire well. I did a full custom cat back.

Hey Dall, thanks for your reply.
You say SI catbacks fit but you did a full custom one in yours? Additionally, I read your post about your 2016 ILX and how you wanted to add power? Did you have any luck, if so what have you done to it? Again thank you for your reply, would love to hear how your car sounds 😓. I’d also love to connect snd keep in touch with you if you don’t mind, as you seem to have a ton of knowledge in the subject.

the only way you're going to add power is to add nitrous or go forced induction.

Bolt on's and tune will take LOTS of money for a marginal gain

The Si cat back exits through the bumper. The 2016 ILX has a downturn tip, so I would have had to either change the tip or cut the bumper. I wanted the symmetry of duals and variable sound because my garage is under someone else's apartment. I used a stainless works chambered muffler as a resonator and an X-Force Varex muffler so I have a slightly quieter than stock or with a push of a button, louder than stock, with a lovely cackle. My crossover is also an expansion chamber that subdues the high pitch rasp. I've been asked if I swapped in a J motor. My phone does not do justice to the sound, but I get revved by performance V8 cars often.
After researching the transmission, I don't believe the clutches would live with much added power and the 1 wheel drive just sucks. I bought an '08 RDX SH-AWD for the turbo yee-haw.

I just added INJEN CAI and Full race exhaust to my 2020 Aspec. I love it so far. Not going to tune, because that is becoming illegal here in cali. Intake was an easy install. Exhaust was easy too, aside from the replacement exhaust hangers which was a real PITA. Only qualm with the exhaust is that is is pressed against the bumper.

You need to make a cut out..or you will start melting the plastic. Modifications with out a tune are pointless with out a tune IMO

I would be wary of power mods. Acura already said that the 8DCT is not able to handle the torque of the V6, so that begs the question just how much headroom it has. An intake and exhaust might add 5hp if you're lucky, so that's probably not a big issue, but going FBO+tune could get pretty iffy.

FBO+Tune might see 30hp increase if lucky on a Naturally Aspirated engine.
I dont think there's anything to worry about with the DCT.

now if using nitrous or forced induction, things can get a little spicy.

The Injen intake is not CARB approved so you're already illegal

haha true, but easy enough to swap during SMOG test. Tune, they can see if it was changed

If you tune with FlashPro it is easy to save your tune and reflash the stock tune back, then reflash your tune after your test. Perhaps other tune systems have the same option.

it's logged in the ECU.
HDS(Honda Diagnostic System) and accompanying laptop+software can see this info.
I have several friends that work at Honda as techs and have told me so.

if they come across it, they don't see it. cough cough.

Only dealers can see it....
if you're getting inspected at the dealer, of course they're going to say something.

if you go to an inspection place, they wont have the HDS and laptop+software to see it

So the EPA test site can't see that there has been a modification to the ECU?

If you are talking to me my iPhone gives it no justice for sound. If you would like to see what I've done, go here https://acurazine.com/forums/ilx-pho.../#post15996907
One of the guys at the car wash I go to asked me if I swapped in a J motor because the expansion chamber/crossover makes it very deep and has an echo, so it doesn't have the 4 banger Honda sound. It cackles a bit when letting off the throttle too. I get revved a lot by newer "muscle cars"

Where did Acura say the 8DCT can't take the torque of the V6? Was that a press release or some other notes/literature? video?

It's the dry clutch system itself. For it to handle 200 lb ft torque it needs wet clutches. You can probably tune to dump power at shift points to go higher.
