Been driving around in the 16 for about a week and stopped by the dealer to pick up the sun visor, sat in a '15 ILX and noticed there was a USB port in the dash under the radio, looked in and saw where it came from, i have been concerned from when i first sat in the '16 about the lack of a USB port in the 'front' of the car, currently the only USB port, HDMI or 'cig' lighter in the arm rest..so i decided to sneak a peak in my little cubby, sure enough the hole is there and Acura cleverly revised the bottom rubber cover to hide the hole from the 15 and relocate it to the arm rest, not it maybe a matter of taking that section out and relocating the usb port...thoughts..

I'm not clear, is it a functional port or just a moulded opening in the glove box?

Its just an opening, it was the USB opening for previous years and instead of redesigning the plastic Acura redesigned the rubber mat to cover the hole up..they relocated the USB port to the arm rest. It may take getting use to but i have always connected my phone up front, but if not, this maybe an option to relocate the USB port, i am assuming they extended the wire to the arm rest so there maybe room to bring it back there...its a matter of taking the center console off

Lol that's a good find. I wonder if you could do some splicing/adapting to a simple USB Hub tucked away you could get two ports to be functional. (One in arm rest, one in front cuby, but both would be through a USB hub that you'd splice from the arm rests wires.)

I'm sure the radio couldn't pull audio from both at the same time, but one at a time or for power. Might work. Be a fun hack.

On the 2013-2015 ILX, the USB port was always in that small front compartment.

For 2016, it is still there on base ILX's, and on Premium/Tech cars, it moves back into the center console with a different plug under the armrest. Base vs. Premium/Tech are different, but both still have USB, just different spots.

I think when they came out with the "new" 2016 design with the iPhone Navigation app, they needed to move all 3 ports close together in ordered for it to work without having wires running all over the place. The app system needs the 12 volt plug, HDMI & USB port together.

As for the system itself, I'm only an occasional user of the navigation system so saving a thousand dollars was a good decision and it works almost as well as any other systems, even better then my Fords Sync system.

The usb in the arm rest is so annoying, it's uncomfortable to reach. I had a usb wire extension form my home computer it work perfect for the car so i can at least stay in my seat while plugging in the usb

If you are using USB for charging: I just got a USB adapter for the power plug in the arm rest and used a 10' USB to Mini-USB cable which I routed around the arm rest compartment under the seats and to the front of the car by the driver door to the front windshield. I have a cell phone holder attached there and whenever I get in the car and put my cell phone there, I just plug it in as well. Chargest very fast, got a 2.0A adapter with 2 ports. I've experienced charging and disconnection with the standard USB port, so I just ended up putting a tiny usb flash drive there with songs on it. Never have to reach back there again.

I've tried splitting the usb with a multi usb port to see if I can get the car to read my flash drive full of music and my phone music at the same time, but it only reads one port at a time. The usb port I got was the one below where it had switches for which usb port you want to activate, this is good so you can just hit a switch to which port you want the car to read, instead of unplugging and plugging in different usb devices.

Oh, now that is smart. Now to take it a step further, since I'm using Bluetooth for my audio through the phone anyways, you can have 4 flash drives with variety of music on each, and you can easily change with just a click of a button or two. Nice! I got this bad boy for my Flash drive. It's tiny so it doesn't take up much space and it is not easy to break if you put something heavy around it.
