I'm going to be doing the same next week. I'm leasing my ILX so I really don't want to spend a ton of money, but sadly I'm going to. Just like with all of my previous cars I'll be going the steel wheels and Blizzaks route.

I'll be dropping down to 17 steelies for my A-SPEC with a set of Blizzak WS80's.

What is the tire size your going with?

I have had very good luck with Hankook iPikes and when they needed replacing, the very similar tread patterned General Altimax Arctic.

They lasted longer and were less expensive than the Blizzaks. To put it in perspective, I purchased the Hankooks used and then put 40K on them. With the amount of miles I drive every day, I didn't want to have to swap them out mid-winter, so I purchased the Generals. The Hankooks ended up getting sold on Craigslist, as there was still decent tread on them, just not enough for me.

As far as handling goes, I drive through some of the worst lake effect snow on the planet and they handled great.

Just figured I'd throw some other choices at you other than the Blizzaks. IMO, they are quite overrated.

If you're just leasing, I'd start your search on your local craigslist. The tide is on the seller's side as the demand will go up with winter around the corner. There were a lot Blizzaks in that size that popped up during the summer. If you have my luck, it's never the size you need when you need them. Had a heck of a time finding 215/45/17's when I had my Si, sold it, and now those tires are everywhere.

Also, Blizzak's are the Apple products of snow tires. There are other manufacturers that can be had at cheaper but perform just as well.

I ended up going with Hankook Icept IZ on a set of MB Wheels 17inch alloys. Hate the look of steelies after a few years, they rust up quickly with all the salt on our roads.

I see you're in Syracuse too. We definitely have some harsh winters. To each their own though, ya know? I'm not saying other snow tires don't compare, I've just been very lucky with Blizzaks. Back when I had my 2011 Si, I had a set on there and I made it through some god awful snow storms to and from Fulton. So I tend to stick with what I know instead of trial and error all over again.

Anyone know if 16" wheels would work on the 2016 ILX? I'm curious because I actually have an old set of 16" steelies at my parents house that I could use and just buy new tires for.

I'm curious to know the same thing. I found a decent set of used 16" Wheels and Tires for $55! However, I don't have a lot of space in my garage. If they don't fit, I won't have anywhere to store them.
