I shoot people
I've posted my system so many times, I just basically copy & paste my own post
I started off with a cheesy HTIB, and a 30" Philips CRT widescreen TV... then I swapped it for the Sammy 50"DLP... At which point I felt that the HTIB just didn't cut it... so I bought an Onkyo THX cert. A/V receiver 800 series and Polk speakers. I thought I was done... but then found out a friend of mine's boyfriend works for Sonance speakers ( www.sonance.com ) and she hooked me up with a $6k setup for about $1k!!! (7.1 with THX cert. front speakers!!) But I must admit you can find them cheap on eBay. Anyway this setup has the XBox 360 and HD-DVD, Samsung upconverting DVD player and Monster Power surge protector, it's pretty much done.... I don't think I'll do anything else with it.... for now at least.
back in may I bought a 46" Samsung 1080p LCD TV which is now in the bedroom with the PS3, but I may swap them cuz I spend more time in the living room than the bedroom... (TV/movie watching, and XBox). For the bedroom I just use one those Logitech THX 5.1 systems, it works good enough for a smaller space

TV: Samsung LN-T5281F LCD 1080p mounted on the wall.
Speakers: Front/Center: Paradigm Cinema 90, mounted on the wall. Sub: Paradigm 10", don't remember the model. Surround: whatever the builder put in the ceiling; some 6" round speakers.
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR705
Other: Xbox 360 Elite, Nintendo Gamecube, Onkyo iPod dock, Samsung BD-P1400 BluRay player, Oppo 980H upconverting DVD/SACD/DVD-Audio player, SA Explorer Digital HD set top box for my HD cable. Logitech Harmony 880 to control it all.
All of the video is hooked up by HDMI except the cable (component video) and gamecube (composite video).
The speakers have never sounded as good as they do now with the Onkyo and the levels all set using the Audessey feature it has.

TV: 32" Philips/Magnavox CRT
Speakers: 5.1 system consisting of Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 satelities, Wharfedale Diamond 9.CS center channel, Wharfedale WH-2 surround speakers, and a Wharfedale Diamond 9 SW150 Subwoofer.
Receiver: Denon AVR-1906
Other: Denon DVD-1920 DVD/CD/SACD player
Our entertainment center doesn't fit larger flat panel displays. The largest that would fit is a 32". Waiting for the wife to approve entertainment unit replacement at which point I'll be looking for a 37" or 40" 1080p flat panel display. This setup is in our family room which isn't all that big.

TV: Sony 40V2500 (40", 1080p)
Reveiver: Onkyo TX-SR604 (7.1)
Speakers: Infinity TSS-450 (5.1 speaker system)
Other: AppleTV 160gb, Philips $40 1080 upconverting DVD player and a Harmony 880 that controls everything
love the setup, wouldn't mind upgrading the receiver to an HDMI converting receiver, but that's just so I could say I only run 1 cable to my TV. Waiting on a HD-DVD/BluRay player until the industry makes a decision.

Speakers: Energy Take 1.2 speakers and S10.3 sub (IIRC)
Receiver: Yamaha RXV1200

Bought the system about 4 years ago, so no HDMI. But, the DVD player is some off brand that upconverts pretty darn well. Plays just about any format, too.

Two more:
The screen, this shots as good as I could get, I have a cheap digital camera so I couldn't do much better. I did put a standard CD case on the left speaker so you would have a sense of scale, that's the little box on the lower left corner of the screen.
Here is the system during the daytime, nothing special:
