ok guys, getting ready to pull the trigger here....I have narrowed my choices between two TV's.

Sony XBR7 40 inch for $899 no free blu ray
or
Sony 46 inch VE5 for $1199 with free blu ray

Sorry no Samsungs....Anyone have any experience or have read anything bad about Sony's new ECO series? I mean being that it uses HOT Cathode Flourescent Lighting, how long is the life span going to be. Am I better off going with the 40inch XBR?

Thanks in advance guys

I have the XBR7 in my bedroom. Love it. Its a great TV. If it was 40" vs 40" xbr7 hands down.

But for $300 a bigger tv and blu ray might be a better buy.

The PQ of the XBR7 will be better though, and you can pick up a decent bluray for $150. That XBR7 was $2800 when I first looked at it last year...... So thats a great price.

Depends on if size matters. I agree with dnd. If it's 40" vs. 40" xbr FTW...

wow...those are some clear shots from your cam. I thought it was a DSLR with an expensive lens. Thanks for the replies and recommendations guys...I was leaning towards the VE5 but would've been nice to have an XBR tho. My bedroom is about 15 x 20, so I hope it won't be too big...lol...Just hoping it will be like my CRT sony Trinitron....its been 18 years and she still running strong!

well another reason I chose the XBR7 for the bedroom was sound. I knew I wasnt going to do any speakers in the bedroom. The built in speakers of the XBR7 are awesome, compared to the ve5.

Thanks for the settings...but I just pulled the trigger on the 46W5150 with blu ray. Been eyeing it for weeks and wanted to buy it a couple days ago but out of stock, which is why I mentioned the 2 models earlier. But when I was about to order tonight the W5150 was on stock in crutchfield...so I decided to buy it.

The W5150 is a awesome TV. I actually thought about getting that over the Samsung Plasma, but the 52" was $500 more than the plasma. Sound And Vision mag just did a review on the new W. Nothing but great feedback.

^^ Congrats. Just got our 52W connected (new FiOS) last night. Just watched some broadcast channels so far, but it looks nice. Can't wait to get it mounted and connected to blu-ray.
