I just bought a Harman Kardon receiver. It won't get here till tomorrow, but I remember that volume dial knob is plastic and feels kind of cheap and flimsy. I know a guy who does some CNC machining, you think he would be able to make me an aluminum knob?

If anyone has an HK, do you think the knob pops out or would I have to dismantle the entire thing? How about that black center cap piece?

my audio rack is within reach of my computer desk... so if I'm listening to music from the pc...err I guess I could use pc volume.

i just pulled the knob off, kinda like uhm the knobs in a car?

Osamu, thanks a lot man... but the new knobs are different. Its a thin hollow ring that sticks out and the center is kind of embedded. Only the actual ring turns, the center of the ring is fixed.

Might still be able to get you one if you want, I'll see how mine turns out (if I do it) and let you know.

yea, i kinda figured it was different,

i was j/k about making me one, it think an aluminum one would look funny on my all black reciever.
