Surge protector

When looking at the Joule rating what is something safe. I have a Monster surge protector that is rated at 420 joules and a Fellows that is rated at 1200 Joules. I will be plugging in my 40" sammy lcd and my sony bluray to one, and surround sound and cable box to the other one. OR should I just plug my TV in to the monster one and the other 3 devices in the fellows? Thanks

I bought one of these cause I got a really good price on it and I like the fact that it fits right into where ever you stack your components so you don't have a power bar sitting on the floor and you only have 1 cable leaving your cabinet to the wall.

Is this their older model? That's the 2400, right?

ya it's the older version, the new one doesn't look as good IMO, seems too plasticky

HDP 2400

One I have it's actually the HTS 1600, I was incorrect before, my brother has the HDP 2400

From what I can tell on the specs they are internally the same, they just differ in appearance. retail on these is $429 up here I paid 150 AFAIk.

I can't comment on if these things are worth it or not but I would take a long hard look at what APC sells.

At least with APC you are dealing with a company who knows a lot about handling power.

I would go with APC too, to be truthful I never even thought about them when I made my purchase, they're lack of retail availability around here probably did not help that. This looks like a comparable product to the monster one I have.

If I was paying retail on either of these items, I would buy the APC product hands down if they were both available to me, that being said getting the monster unit at the price I did will win everytime.

How so? I gave him my opinion that I prefer tripplite. Sure, the thread got derailed, but he never specified if he wanted strip versus in cabinet, etc.
