Setting Wireless name?

Hey guys, I currently have 6 wireless router. 1 connects to the server while others are connected thru the ethernet slot of the 1st one.

Right now, i have the other 5 work as an access point by going into the router. I was wondering if I can change all of the name of the router to 1 name and 1 connection instead of having multiple names for each access point.

Some guy told me to disable the DHCP in the router that connect to the server..would that work?

Not sure why disabling DHCP would do anything. I think you can make them all the same name, but that won't help when going from one point to another since they have different SIDS...

More questions: First, what wireless network client are you using on your machines, Windows built-in or one from the hardware vendor like Intel? The Windows wireless client is uber-stupid in environments that have multiple APs using the same SSID. It will always try to reconnect to the last AP it was connected to even if that one has a minuscule signal compared another closer AP. The only way to force the machine to connect to the strongest signal is to manually disable the radio then turn it back on.

Second, what are you using to restrict access, pre-shared keys, MAC filtering, 802.1x authentication? These things have the possibility of getting fickle when you start having multiple APs with the same SSID. To be fair though, a good number of these problems can be due to crappy management interfaces on the hardware that make it easy to mess up your own configs.

Your right, window is stupid when it comes to connecting to mutiple AP. When I was setting up the server, it keeps on connecting to the AP I don't want...very annoying. I'm using a pre-shared key for the security option. I'm using a company call Logix. I think creating multiple AP is better than 1 name because the people get option to choose the best signal don't you think? Or is 1 name less confusing for people? The SSID i assigned each one goes for certain room number...like Belkin N1 wireless goes to room 100-114. (i'm using the new N wireless techonology and its super great! with great amount of distant cover than my previous Belkin G Wireless Router.)
