Model number?

Chances are it's a 2004 or 2005 model, which isn't necessarily bad... Is it used?

Well, if it's not 1080p then Scrib's probably right... it's either the 2004 or 2005 model which are native 720p but can also display 1080i, 480i, and 480p.

Assuming nothing is wrong with the TV I'd say that's a good price. If it's used it's still a pretty good price, but, depending on how old it is, you may want to get a new bulb. Even so that will only cost you $250-$300, so I'd still say go for it!

I paid $170 for the bulb after 8500 operating hours.

Bestbuy covers bulbs for 5 years as well as calibrations

I though the previous gen TI chips would display 1280i(dunno who the hell broadcasts in it) as well as 720P

Sounds like a pretty decent deal to me.

Only thing you may want to check are the inputs. It probably only has one, if any, HDMI inputs. Check what you are planning on connecting to it and make sure it will take all the wires.

Is the Charter box HD? Depending on what connections you are using, you may run out of component inputs. this may not be a big issue, but it's worth looking into.

If you get the TV, you will definitely make sure you have HD cable capabilities. Either verify that your box already does this, or make sure you can upgrade to an HDPVR.

Anyway, you need to figure out what items use what outputs and make sure you can connect everything to the TV (assuming you aren't using a receiver or anything else) the way you want to.

The Sammy DLPs always have had at least one HDMI input. The new ones have two. With this being a 2004 or 2005, there will only be one... but if you need more you can always buy an HDMI switch.
