I can get this TV local for $2200 (1200) after I get rid of my current tv, the only reason Im really selling is I selling it to my brother who just got an apartment and needs some stuff so I'm kinda doing it as a favor...

Or in that price range let me know what you think is a good idea...I was real happy with the 42" version of this, now Im on to the larger version which I think will be nice as well...

Suggest me some more things to look at please or things to be choncious of

If you are used to a Sony, you should get another Sony in all cost.

May want to check out a Samsung since Samsung makes the tube/lcd for Sony.

LCD panels have red push and green push.
Screen door effect (this is huge)
Pixel latency (bluring on high motion)

Watch a football game on a LCD rear projection sometime, you'll see the field looks like it's neon green. high motion will blur and the entire picture will wash on high motion full screen.

No DLP suffers from completely different set personality traits.

All LCD rear projection TVs have "screen door effect". The only way to remove it is by defocusing the lenses in the projection system. Making the picture slightly out of focus on the screen and blending the edges of the LCD pixels. There is no such thing as a LCD RP TV that doesn't have the screen door effect. There are ways of hiding it, but the picture quality suffers greatly. It's just a reality of the technology until they can get the gap between the pixels closer. (technically speaking large panel LCD technology is dead and replaced by LCoS. LCoS does not suffer any of these issues)

p.s.

My intention is not to offend you, but a 42" TV is tiny in the big screen world. The gap between the LCD pixels that causes "screen door effect" would be very small on a 42" screen, noticable but only if your TV was calibrated by a professional. Just a small ammount of defocusing would probably make it almost invisible and at 6-10' it would even be hard for me to pick it out on a 42" screen.

I can vouch for this. I had a Sony 60" RP LCD and ended up returning it b/c I hated the bluring during fast motion. I did not have the color problems Siggy is referring to. First thing I did was tweak the color when we got the TV and the picture was actually awesome. That is, until you watch something like football and get all of the artifacting and blurring.

It's b/c of this I'll be going either LCoS or Sammy DLP when I get another 60"+ TV.
