So I am moving soon into my first home and I will be setting up what will be my "Lion's Den" (super man cave) and I have this idea for my Video game chair.
The Chair i have is a X-rocker commander its pretty nice and it has a swivel base so it dosent sit on the floor but its still not as high as i would like for it to be. I think i want to build a "Riser box" so it sits higher but I would like the box to open for storage so i can put game consoles inside. My plan is to have a projector and this way i can have all cables behind me but have acess to the console. Also if i am playng an older system i can run the controler cord but keep a clean view to the screen.
Has anyone done anything like this? I am worried about the weight of the chair plus my 220 my be too much for a simple wood box. I dont know much about building this sort of this what type of meterials should I use? Will I have to have a support beam in the center? how wide should the box be in relation to the base of the chair to distribute the weight? is there some kind of formula?
