Electrostatic Speakers
Electrostatic Speakers
Looking for new fronts I went into Magnolia looking for some B&W speakers. The dude asked me about my room and I told him that I have a vaulted ceiling. He turned me onto the MartinLogin ElectroMotion ESL saying that they would fill the room better. I have seen stuff like this before and was impressed with the sound and the bank account needed to buy a pair of them. While there are still hella expensive examples, the ElectroMotion ESL are ~$2k for the pair.
IMO they sounded more full compared to the somewhat cheaper B&W but the bass was lacking in the ESL. The weak bass was nothing that a sub couldn't fix and they sounded fantastic with a sub. Anyone own a set of electrostatics?

A friend of mine has Summit X's (with the Stage center and Depth sub)...sounds amazing, but definitely would qualify as your "hella expensive examples." However, the basic technology is the same, and having heard it, I would consider it if I was in the market for new speakers. Audition them in your house, if you can (and any others you're considering, as well). At the end of the day, go with what sounds best to you.
