I didn't know that. Don't know what it was a nice try for.
When I AM LEGEND DVD commercials first ran you heard them cut out "HD" DVD and sub it with "DV-DVD" (I know sounds funny) so this lead me to believe it wasn't going to be available until a new commercial ran starting last week saying it would be available in mid April
I'm not sure what I was "trying".............it's pretty evident HD - DVD is dead (CC and BB giving refunds, etc)
PS3 FTW

After months of anticipation, Sony and DTS have announced plans to add DTS-HD Master Audio output for Blu-ray to the PlayStation 3 via firmware upgrade early next week.
Capable of delivering audio that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master at super high variable bit rates, DTS-HD Master Audio has been included in several stand-alone Blu-ray players, but its availability on the PS3 will for the first time bring full spectrum premium audio to the masses.
Note that DTS-HD Master Audio tracks are not included in all Blu-ray disc releases, but DTS says there are now more than one hundred DTS-HD MA titles on the market, including all of Fox's Blu-ray releases. (Check the "disc details" section on the left hand side of each of our Blu-ray reviews to see whether your favorite titles are Master Audio-enabled.)
The new PS3 firmware update (version 2.30) will be available for download on April 15th.

Hot on the heels of last week’s report from ABI Research noting that many consumers may not see the picture quality difference between Blu-ray and standard DVDs comes the latest Blu-ray sales figures from NPD Group. And they’re not pretty.
According to NPD, sales of Blu-ray standalone players plummeted 40 percent from January to February, then rose a scant 2 percent from February to March. The general consensus was that once Toshiba dropped its support for the HD DVD format early this year, sales would increase.
In fact, sales of Blu-ray standalone players remain so low that NPD has not yet released actual numbers, for fear that it would be easy to identify individual retailers. The research group will start to give actual figures later this year, said Ross Rubin, director of industry analysis at NPD.
The end of the format wars clearly did little to boost Blu-ray’s prospects. Like others, Mr. Rubin said the much cheaper upconverting standard DVD players are winning consumers’ hearts and wallets.
The price of upconverting players is hovering around $70. And this week, Amazon is giving them away for free when consumers purchase certain Samsung TVs. The result: a 5 percent uptick in upconverting DVD player sales in the first quarter of 2008, compared to same quarter a year ago, and a 39 percent decline in players that don’t have that feature.
With Blu-ray players still costing more than $300 — and a number of players on the market still lacking some Blu-ray features like Internect connectivity — NPD now figures that Blu-ray’s future won’t be clear until this Christmas, when prices should drop to the $200 range.
ABI Research is even less optimistic. In a report released yesterday, the research firm figures it could take until October 2009 until Blu-ray gains a foothold in the market.

I wonder how the PS3 factors into that thanks to its rep as being of one of the best players. I have 0 plans of buying a standalone as I'll just buy a PS3. I did the same with the PS2. That was my first SD player.

That's so stupid. I see a night and day difference between regular DVDs and BD; just like regular TV and HD.
Now, these idiots may not see a difference if..
- They are hooking it up to a non HDTV
- They do not have a full HD 1080p TV
- They are not hooking it up to an HDTV
- They don't have an HDTV
- An HDTV is not something they have
- The person(s) viewing the movie are Blind
- They are sitting behind the television
- They are not turning the television on
- They do not have an HDTV
How the hell can you NOT see a difference????

if you are watching a 32" tube you won't notice ANY difference because it's not HD
