AZ on a big screen. Hell yeah.

So i finally got the cables in to hook up my PC to my samsung 50" dlp.

It's only in 720p, but boy is it cool having a 50" monitor.

I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, so I'm lounging on my couch and typing this. Now THIS is technological advancement.

Anybody else hook up their PC to their HDTV?

yeah I have so much shit hooked up I don't have anywhere to hide the wiring. As for the open heart surgery PC, I got a new motherboard, but the way teh tower is setup has the power supply 1/10 of an inch from the processor fan cone, so it can't get any air out. I'm waiting on my replacement case to come in.

I don't think the TV stand is really that bad. It does it's job.

I got the speaker stands from amazon. I kind of had to bend the mounts a little bit for the speakers because otherwise the speakers would point at the ground at a 45 degree angle.

I'll snap some pics for you when I get home from work tonight.

I got the 360 from a friend. It wa sbroken, so I had to send it in for repairs. $105 to repair + $100 to friend, + $50 for power supply and video cables off ebay, +$25 shipping, $30 for 1 year warranty extension = $310 xbox 360, lol.

how did you hook this up? Did you use a DVI --> HDMI cable? if so, what setting did you use on your computer to get this to show up properly? I've been having some issues hooking my 37 in westy to my computer.

That tv stand doesnt do your TV any justice, is it me or is the top of the stand bending a little

A black stand would look much better

the tv stand was free, so I couldn't sya no since I'm a poor college student, lol. It is bent a little bit becuase I had the old tv off center to the left for a couple months and it's permanently warped because of that.

I agree a black stand would look much better, but it's just not in the budget right now.

I finally got some pictures of the speaker stand mounts that i promised, and I received my new computer case, so no more open heart surgery PC.

speaker stand mounts:

basically thosethin rods were originally bent at a 90 degree angle, but I had to bend them to about a 130 degree angle, since the screw hole is at a 45 degree angle on teh speaker... stupid design.

new case:

it's all glowey..

ahh i see what you mean by you had to bend the mount, i was hoping it was a mount that would screw directly into the existing screw hole for the table stands that came with the speakers. that looks like it could work out

well it's not as stable as I'd like it to be, so you may be able to find similarly priced mounts that work better with these speakers.

couldn't you slide the speaker down that bracket so the bottom of the speaker rests on that square piece of the stand?

no, because if I try to slide it down the braket hits the two screws that the wires connect to.

^me? if so ... make it output the native res of the tv. which should be 1366X768, cuz i had problems with the last tv when i didnt set it to that res and it would flicker or be off centerd

o and its set to DualView.. so the laptop is still the main desktop and the Tv is for movies or whatever

:Werd: pretty much same setup here, except that since I only have the TV connected to the computer I had to set the resolution to the TV's native resolution (1280x720@60hz) prior to shuting it down and moving it over to the TV.

once I got it started up I had to do some adjustment in the TV setup menu to make it all show up properly on the TV without cutting any off.

Bump

I'm trying to accomplish this right now with my laptop to a Sony Bravia 46" LCD. Connected using an HDMI cable.... whenever I play a video, the video plays through my laptop display, while the sound plays through my TV's speakers.

My resolution is all jacked up on my TV too. My wallpaper doesn't fill out the entire TV screen. Its confusing as hell.... when I surf AZ then the video is displayed on the laptop, but when I adjust Windows settings (display, resolution, wallpaper, etc.) I have to look at the TV.

Some help, please?
