42" LCD Bargains
At the moment Im looking for the best price for a 42" Flat Panel HDTV. My budget is 1K or less because i just bought and moved into a new house and my old 27" bulky TV just isnt cutting it anymore. I have found the perfect place above the fireplace to mount the TV. I do realize i probally wont be able to get a TV thats 1080p within my price range, most i've seen have been 720p. Any help would be appreciated, it seems like you guys know your stuff.

such a nice roomie...lol...i'm the one that always get the ncie stuff too...so I know how you feel...but the clarity was good? do you have any HD channels hooked up on it? If they come in clear and a PS3 comes in clear with HD games, I'm gonna pick one up this weekend!

To the OP not sure on how the quality is of the Magnavox brands but Costco.com has the Magnavox 42" 1080p LCD for $1k after $200 off.
My roommate picked up a 42" Vizio sometime last year, I'd have to say, for a brand that is not "well known" it is pretty good. Although we did not have HDTV subscribed from DirecTV, he bought a HDTV tuner and it was pretty amazing. XBOX360 on it was clean and crisp. PS3 was pretty nice too (didn't have it for too long). I am also looking into purchasing a LCD TV soon, keep me in the loop if you find an amazing deal for a 42". I am currently considering a 37" in about the $800 range but I am more than willing to go on the top-ramen diet for a week to shell out an extra $200.

I'm quite certain that at my local Costco I saw a 42" 1080p LCD for something like $1199 or $1299

Here is a thread with more 'in-the-know' people about all the QAM Tuner and fancy stuff if you aren't as tech savvy.

I have a 32" Olevia LCD and think its a good TV. Picture clarity is great. Then again, i got it for $380 new so i can't really complain.
My gf is amazed at how well my tv stacks up to her dad's 61" Mitsu 1080i tv (not sure if its DLP or rear projection). I know he paid a buttload for it a little while ago though.

both from ESPN HD
okay, so here's a picture of the Vizio 37". I did angle the camera because there was a little glare... the picture's great for something $800 IMO.
and here's my Samsung 46" 1080p (but of course, this picture wasn't in 1080p)

I got my 32" Olevia for $370
We bought 5 37" Olevia for $500 a piece (HD monitor really, didn't have a tuner)
and my uncle got a 42" Olevia for $800 i believe (might have been $700).
Olevia is made by Spectra. It might be an off-brand, but they were a sponsor of ESPN HD and they still might be.
EDIT: corrected the prices.

Costco had a $200 off Coupon on the 1080P 42" Vizio a few weeks ago. I bought one on the 25th of June, but I doubt the coupon is valid anymore. Maybe you can get them to honor it or something.
I think on the mainland it was $1199 - $200 = $999, but over here prices are jacked up $50 bucks, but that's still better than paying $100+ in shipping.
I can't really say how good the quality is because I don't have any HD sources yet, but hopefully I'll have something soon. But it's a big step up from the 19", 20 year old, JVC TV that I was using,

My friend that works at CC just told me about how they received an open-box 37" LG TV. They were selling it for $500 but his coworker picked it up before he even knew about it  if you guys haven't seen the quality, they are pretty amazing. I may end up going with a Vizio as well, I will try to hold out until the end of the month to see if there is any other crazy deals

I think the Vizio's too new of a company at the moment to have any bad feedbacks...

Thought I was join in this thread. I am going to college in August and while looking at TVs from walmart we found the cheap Vizio which seems like a great deal to me. 500 for a 32" plasma TV is awesome. We also noticed another cheap TV there called an ILO? Anyone ever heard of them? Another cheap one was a Emerson anyone got thoughts about those?
