We now have three Dutch Bantams (or "Bannys") that look similar to this. The kids love them and they're very small and quiet and actually like when the kids pet them unlike the other bitches They lay mini eggs too.

They're cute. Mini eggs? Like how mini? Would I need 2 to sub in for a large egg in a cake recipe, or would that be too much?

No need to hide...I agree! It's the one piece that doesn't look quite right to me. I almost had him change it when it was framed, but the window was already ordered and I had already gone over budget on windows by over $2K, so I didn't want to push my luck any further with HLL. (I knew there were other areas I'd be going over budget that mattered more.)

I guess mini was the wrong word. Their egg would just fit inside a normal egg, so not too much smaller, but it is noticeable. I don't think it would make a huge difference when cooking, but then again I'm not a chef

A little update. (Scotty cracked my skull, so it's been a while)..

They've been doing lots of site work, like trenching and burying conduit for electricity, bringing fill dirt, and installing the drainfield. It's very important to us to disturb as few trees as possible, so rather than allowing the electric company to clear a 6 foot swath of trees to trench, we paid our excavator and builders to wind through the trees with a very narrow trench. Over a 1000' run, we only lost one additional tree for electricity. That said, roots were unavoidable, so we may end up with another couple of casualties - time will tell.

Still waiting for the electric company to come pull the wire through the conduit and hook us up, so we're still without electricity, which means no AC, which means they won't install our floors. So we're held up a little there. They're going to build up the floor for the perimeter cabinets in the kitchen so we can get those installed so the stone can be fabricated and the backsplash & plumbing installed - trying to keep things moving. Fingers crossed for electric hook-up SOON.

Meanwhile, we do finally have deck rails. The rails for the back deck (3rd pic) look a little saggy still because the stairs aren't finished and they'll pull through all the way down the stair rail.

They've also finally started tiling the bathrooms.

Guest bath. The accent is marble interspersed with crackled glass. Still hazed over here, and I couldn't walk on the new floor yet to get a better pic.

Master bath.

The shower and tub deck/splash will all be this recycled glass. Half frosted, half iridescent - randomly distributed. Very irregular with lots of bubbles and imperfections in the glass due to the recycled nature. Very organic feeling. Love it!!

They started installing light fixtures yesterday.

And that little corner sex seat isn't going to be big enough for your ass?

The tile guy was a huge grump about those glass tiles. To be fair, they come on paper-faced sheets to make the large areas easier. Cutting the glass is a bitch, though, and they have to sand exposed corners. The tub surround is going to have a ton of little oblique cuts. He's charging us 5 arms and 2 legs to install it. Seriously. I was floored (pun intended).

And HLL said the same thing about HIS ass. It's to shave my legs, tyvm.

Looks awesome! I love the deck and the wood surroundings. Maybe you said it before but if so I missed it, do you plan on putting anything in the 'backyard' such as a pool or patio or anything? Either way, looks great.
