Wow, thanks, love the updated photos. Your friend is quite talented. If I could breath around all of that greenery it would be perfect for me.
Hope you continue to enjoy it and your health improves.

Thanks very much, guys. It feels like a giant story-book cover in our living room. Now I have to choose whether to face the wall or the windows. It was a no-brainer before. Ahh..the difficult decisions we must make in life.

And thanks for that, MR1. I can't imagine having a better chance at better health anywhere else, honestly. It's pretty perfect. I feel like you can practically feel the O2-rich air. Wish I could send some your way.

I can't believe I forgot to post the sunset from the deck this winter when the trees were bare. I have this hanging in the stairwell as a 20"x40". Kind of wish I'd ordered it even just a smidge larger.

Thanks guys - I am enjoying the painting. Chill, the rock garden is peaceful. The dog loves it there. We're planning to move some large-ish rocks into a circle nearby to make seating for a fire pit that we'll have in the middle. Slowly but surely coming along...

Gorgeous picture!

I hadn't even noticed the season aspect of the painting until you mentioned it. There's a lot going on in it...very cool.

Sounds like it will be very nice. I'd like to do something like that in my yard, but I'm still good with just my back porch...guess I'm simple like that.

Nothing wrong with simple! In fact, I think there's a lot right with it.

Having a garden has always been important to me. My garden at my last house was tiny, but I made the most of the room I had. Now I have lots of room to play with growing things. I'm in no hurry, but am looking forward to adding things here and there over time.

Thanks, guys!! I love it more and more here all the time. It felt like home almost instantly.

We've been working on the yard/garden as much as possible this season, but due to some health hiccups it's been slower going than I'd hoped. Still, that's starting to take shape, too.

Thanks, I do, too. Our intention was to build small(ish) and to incorporate plenty of outdoor living areas that allow us to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

And thanks for the well-wishes rockstar and swoosh.

With the installation of under-cabinet and glass cabinet lights in the kitchen, the interior is finally complete!

(Sorry they're just cell pics...)

Now we can just focus on the exterior. Sometime this month, they should be replacing our gravel walkway with flagstone, if we can finally manage to coordinate on dates. I'm excited for people to stop tracking gravel in.

you beat me to it LOL....

we have the under cabinet lights wired as well, but the builder wanted $500 for the lights, so I asked him to bite me and thought will do it myself....

I have been looking at some LED alternatives....did you go with regular bulbs or with LED's/etc

$500 is a steal. I'd have taken that and run. Ours wanted twice that much! $140something per light at 7 lights = cha-ching. As it was, it still cost nearly that much, but the price included nicer lights, a dimmer switch, a glass shelf for the glass-faced cabinet, and light-rail installation.

I don't like LEDs because I don't like the color temperature. Even the warmer ones aren't quite there yet for me. And I despise fluorescent lights, so I chose the xenons.

we took almost 4 ft out of our counter space...we gave a ft to the pantry and 3 to wall/counter mounted microwave and oven....so we were left with only 4 spots for under cabinet lighting....the house comes prewired for the lights and a switch....they just wanted $500 to install 4 bulbs....

I might get the bulbs you mentioned and give it a whirl....I like the white, so this will be interesting

Thanks for the link

It does look amazing! I wasn't ever a huge fan of your counter tops until I saw them lit up today. You made great choices!

Anil: Your cabinets are pre-wired? If so that's fantastic. When I did ours with the LEDs, I ran into a major problem. The dead spaces required running the power lines down through the wall, over, then back up. The problem is, there are horizontal studs running to support the granite counter tops weight. And fishing power lines through that without tearing up your walls was EXTREEEEEEMELY difficult.

I too would have taken the $500 deal. Lol

but yeah the lights are prewired....we have a switch and 4 boxes where the lights go....in the box you have 2 wires....so i thought 500 was a waste....

I might just get 1 of the bulbs which wndrlst mentioned and give it a go....i hope I dont ZING myself in the process LOL...

Go for it. Like she said LED are hard to get to that "soft" look. They do make them but they tend to be a soft yellow and not a soft white, like she has here.

With mine I can pretty much achieve that because I can mix all three RGB leds to any intensity level I want at the same time. We usually like to stick with a super soft green white color. But only because of our granite color.

Thanks, spy! I agree - I think our surroundings are more important than most people realize.

Thank you. The good news is, I've already met with them about the materials and the design - they just have to implement, so it will get done no matter what.

And I still probably wouldn't sell it! But you can hire me to design and supervise your build.

It's a very good point - the granite color will affect what you buy. The color temperature of these xenons is actually quite warm, but with the cool counters and backsplash they look more white. (Granted, I didn't white-balance the cell phone pics either - the light still does look slightly warm in reality.)

If we'd gone with cooler lights it would have looked very cold and sterile in our kitchen. Not the feel I was going for. If you have very warm colors in your kitchen, you can get away with cooler lights.
