Vermont Castings Grills??? Home Depot?
OK, I'm on the quest for a natural gas grill. I've looked everywhere, including the specialty stores... I've narrowed it down to a grill by a company called "Modern Home Products" and a Vermont Castings Grill, which is actually sold at Home Depot as well as specialty stores.
The VC grill at HD doesn't have all the bells and whistles, like a side burner, etc... But it's 304 stainless, stainless burners, Porcelain grills...
Anyone have any experiences with these grills from Home Depot?

Eric: look here:
www.abtelectronics.com
They have everything, believe me.
It might be more than you want, but it shows you what you can have.
I just bought a combo washer/dryer from these guys (NOT an over/dryer, under/washer) like you are probably thinking. I'm delighted with it!

Unfortunately, the only grills they offer that I'd consider (mainly because of cost) is Weber, which of course is readily available anywhere. Although a nice $4k Viking would be nice.

I saw the VC grilles at the local mom and pop appliance store where I got my weber... Looked good to me... They only had Weber and VC there, so they must be good
I don't like buying some stuff like this at the box stores 'cause the lil' guys usually give you the bells and whistles for the same price as the box stores.
My grille was setup and delivered and came with a stainless cooking surface and flavor bars. The box stores (HD, Sears) just had the poreclain grilles, and I'd have to lug a box home and set it up...

Their larger grills are pretty good too. I've been wanting one of these for a while, but I'm going to wait until I move.
BTW, Scrib, that same article listed a Thermos as a "CR Best Buy". It's $400, sold at Target, but it's stainless steel, has stainless burners, as well as a side burner, and beat out more expensive grills like the Weber.
If you're looking for a name it's not the one to buy.... but it's a good grill.

Welp... I broke down and bought the VC. The CF9055N. Hope to have it in two weeks, as it needs to be special ordered due to the natural gas request.
I can't seem to find a pic of it on the USA homedepot.com, so I had to go over to . It's teh middle one.

Congrats! Not cheap at all though. Whatever. Doesn't matter, if you use yours as much as I use mine it will wear out before it corrodes.
The one thing I regret about my Weber propane gas grill is lugging the damn tanks around and hiking them up 16 stairs, wish I had gone the natural gas route. When I buy the next one, I will do that. I bought the new Weber when I bought the new Condo back in 11/97, and at that time, I just didn't have the heart to tear up all the carpeting to lay a gas line around the perimeter of my family room to get to the grill.

It's kind of a moot point now that you've taken the plunge, but I could still dig it up and scan it for you if you want.

I picked up a rotisserie and a VC cover (both given to me at cost) and the damage was right at $700 OTD.
Looking forward to it. I'll post pics, etc. once I get the focker.

Thanks!
Solid review for the 9055. I think CR didn't recommend it due to cost, but the model below it they liked.

They liked them both, but price is always a consideration with CR to get their "Best Buy" recommendation. They're not saying the 9030 is any better, only a better value.....pound for pound, so to speak.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
