Its all a matter of priorities, personal preference, etc.
I will be totally honest with you, I LOVE the new highest end stuff, I work with it every single day, I specifiy it for clients and i detail kitchens, offices, showrooms, etc, that I can never and will never be able to afford. I personally do not see it as a wise investment to spend 1400 dollars on a kitchen faucet. Especially not in the current real estate market where the return on that investment will not be anywhere near 100%.
I LOVE that style and the associated performance and as such, I am more than happy to do a little digging and track down alternative faucets of similar styles for 1/4 of the cost. Sure, the name brand etched on it is different but its a style I like and the quality, while not that of the highest of the high end, still far surpasses that of a 49.99 home depot special.

the fact of the matter is, Tile backsplashes ARE out of style for 2008 and moving forward. regardless of how i say it, the styles and trends have moved on. Tile backsplashes and typical home depot granite kitchens are VERY 1998-2006. granite is no longer anything "special" as every tom dick and harry has it. im not berating anyone, simply pointing out modern style trends that basically anyone outside the design industry or not in the market for residential property in the market of 700-1000 + dollars per square foot would know about.
where do you think the trends of granite countertops and maple 42" cabinets came from? DING DONG!!! thats right, it came from ultra high end homes of the early to mid 90s!!! starting to see a pattern here? i thought so!!
thank you and goodnight!

You're missing the entire point. Do I go on threads and say:
"newsflash fellas, acura's are fucking OUT of style."
No. You came into this thread sounding like an obnoxious, pompous prick. I have absolutely no problems with what ppl drive, how they do their kitchen, etc. I do however have problems with morons that sound like total tools on this site. I could care less about Vola, Hansgrohe, etc., what you think we all should do, etc. Again, that's not my point here.

Do your research, the Vola and Hansgrohe names have quite a long-lived reputation behind them and YES they will out perform any peice of shit Home Depot faucet you are rocking...both in terms of appearance, durability, and longevity. does everyone need or want stuff like that? certainly not...much like not everyone needs or wants a modified impractical sports car over a simple mode of daily transportation.
some people piss money away on cars, some piss it away on clothes, some piss it away on faucets, whatever floats your boat man!

My panties aren't in a bunch, I just wanted to emphasize your douchebachery....hence the quote & enlarged text. Personally, I thought that calling YOU a pompous prick, tool, etc. was also "fun!" No offense, take it easy as well.

I'm sure there are suppliers for the stuff, but usually a designer or kitchen/bath contractor would have the best connection in your specific area.

^ +1. Home Depot, Menards, etc. usually has a very minimum amount of tile available (especially glass). I went to a tile wharehouse, most of the customers are contractors, etc.

^ You MUST check out factory tile outlet (I think that's the name). It's on Western & Fullerton Avenue, about 2 blocks off the Kennedy. They have an awesome selection of stuff, you won't find anywhere else.

Here's one place that does the glass backsplashes --
http://glasskoteusa.com/backsplash.html
I googled "tempered glass backsplash" to get a listing of places. It does not appear that traditional tile vendors are handling these materials. I'm sure if this becomes more mainstream that they will get in on the action.

If anybody is watching the show Hell's Kitchen this year, you may have noticed the cool tiles on the red and blue teams kitchens. This lady did the set, pretty cool!

Tile backsplashes are NOT out of style. Sure, perhaps the .14/c sq. foot generic rose colored tile is out of style, but no way in hell are tile blacksplashes out of style.
Newer trend:
Stainless Steel Backsplash - for a modern kitchen look; not everyone likes that - and a full stainless backsplash doesn't at all go with antique looking door knobs, cabinets, etc.
Personally, I like Stainless, but I also like dark cherry cabinets and darker granite so I don't think wouldn't look good. I'd go for an amazing tile backsplash vs. a solid stainless setup.
Oh - and to the OP - kind of got lost in the bickering about backplashes; but - I bought this faucet a short while ago and love it; it's about $200
