Tint for home windows
Tint for home windows
I have been thinking lately about tinting the sliding glass door and the front two windows on the house. I am not looking for anything dark or reflective, mainly just something to keep UV and heat out. Anyone have good luck with this stuff or is it pointless? Later today I'm going to Lowes to check it out cause I saw some on their website along with HD, but just wanted to check in and see if anyone has used this stuff.
If you can harsh sun rays or just want to block out some UV rays, tint is a very good idea. It is very easy to do and you can even use/buy the tint films that they use for cars from auto tint shops. Just tell them the dimension and they can cut it for you.
I will most likely buy it and install it myself because I know its not that hard to do, my main concern is that it actually works. My front bedroom gets really warm in the mornings and would like to know if the tint will do anything or just waste my money.
I( have low-e casement windows and still some rooms of the house are too warm. Got tint this year for the two biggest offender bedrooms - helps but still the problem is there.
If the room gets the main exposure of the sun during the day the tint will help but not eliminate the problem.

Tinting works, I have a 3500sq. ft room with 18 4'x2' windows in it, all of which are facing the sun during the heat of the day. I didn't use film, but rather had the window's replaced with tinted window's(this way its warantied and the film is between the panes and is perfect), the temperature has dropped by at least 10 degrees on hot days now, I couldn't imagine going back and have NO regrets about it, well other then I wish I did it a long time ago.
