Any of you guys have any?

There seem to be dog doors that are remotely linked to an IR tag on the dogs collar, so the door is locked at all times, but the dog could unlock himself.

Trying to conjure up a design so that our dog could allow himself outside to go to the bathroom as he pleases. yet, without the worrying of an intruder coming in through a conventional dog door. the idea would be a secure dog door opening up to a small fenced in area. it would be ideal during work days, without having to rely/trust a dog walker.

although, i am thinking, if an intruder where to try to get in through the dog door, chances are the dog would run up to the dog door, and his collar would unlock the dog door anyway, rendering the secure dog door useless.

what are some good solutions to have a dog come/go outside when no one is home, without having to leave a door open all day?

 

I don't have any experience with these, but a quick Google search seems to yield that there are many options...

Our current house has a dog door in the hall bath (it has a door to the back yard). Our dog doesn't know it exists...we haven't taken the cover off for this reason and to help keep the heat in (when it's "cold" here in CA please send rain...).

Well, just this bathroom. The master bath and half bath do not.
