Replacement Windows

The wife and I were going to wait until the summertime to replace our sh!!ty, drafty windows but it looks as if we will have to start sooner than that. We have a number of birds who like to hang out in the neighbors yard and eat the free birdseed in the wintertime. It seems that one of the flying rodents got lost in a snow storm and slammed into one of the windows in the living room and it's going to be a real PITA to replace the window myself. I'll post pics of it when i get home but you may be able to see the outline of the damn bird right next to the cracked glass We're thinking of replacing the windows on the back side of the house first and doing to front next year and going with either Anderson or Pella.

I would go with Pella, I think Anderson is more hype for the money. That said I don't have either one after having both come to my home when we had windows replaced two years ago. One thing to think about when replacing them, the more you do the more you'll save save. So doing half now and half later, you'll pay more.

I thing most don't think about when windows are replaced if there is a lot less noise. I can't believe how much quieter it is. I was looking to replace our windows because some didn't open or stay open as well as the drafts, but the noise barrier is a BIG plus.

These are nice . . .

Have had good luck with the brand, both in my home and some rental property.

make sure you don't buy the real cheap ones. they may be 100% better than what you have, but you will regret it. i would say that you would need to go with a vinyl window, since they are replacement. anywhere from 150-$300 a window i would expect to spend

I know nothing of windows but my friend in Orlando has these cool windows that have sun shades built into them from the top inside the window. They are also hurricane approved glass.
