If you go to any mattress store DO NOT pay more than 50% of the "retail" price (I would try to push that number to 60). You may be able to get lower than that. There is SO much mark up in the retail price, also don't believe the bullshit about them giving you a price better than the competitors. NONE of the sell the same NAME of a mattress so you can beginning to really and truthfully compare them.
The makers of mattresses will make the same mattress for everybody to sell, except they will change the material, material color or material design for each store they sell to. Plus they'll name each mattress a different name for each store.
Again, find the one you like and don't pay over 50% retail for it.

I have a guy who used to own a furniture and mattress distributing company. He now owns a warehouse and gets the overflow from all of the furniture and mattress companies he used to service. When buying my mattress for my new house he told me exactly what Jupiter said above, almost Verbatim. Needless to say he sold me a Pillowtop that had the same specs and materials Matress discounters had for about 65% below retail. They wanted $3500 for it and he sold it to me for $1300, delivery included. He said if I followed what he said I couldve gotten it for about $1500-1750 from them if I chose to. Mattress places are a rip off if you do not know how to buy them.

I've heard the Tempurpedic/memory foam beds are hot from a lack of air circulation. Any comments from those that have them? I like sleeping on my side, and a spring mattress kills me.
#15
Not at all, they don't get hot and actually flow almost like a regular bed. The nice thing is that in the summer the bed stays cooler at night and in the winter warmer!

I have a really good memory foam topper 3" thick, on my bed, as well as use one for a pillow, they do get hot. I still have to turn my pillow to the other side when it does. Also the bed and pillow is stiffer when it gets real cold and softer when it get hotter.
I had a memory foam mattress, I hated it because even though they say you won't toss and turn, you will, and it's hard to roll over because the mattress has molded to your body frame.

Yea, shouldn't be a problem. I sent my sister to him and he had a matress she was going to buy for my nephew that retailed for $700, she got it for $150. I have the card at home, I'll PM you his info. He pretty much gives the lowest price he can give on the spot, I thought I was going to have to barter with him but for the price he offered me I couldn't argue

I got my mattress (Simmons beauty rest at ~$750) from a small family owned business. They were good to deal with and even sent us a classy "thank you for your business" card in the mail. Figure out what your budget is before going shopping. They range from ~$450-$2,000+.

I have had mine for 2 years now and love it.
Nothing comes even close. I paid somewhere around $2700 for a KING mattress & 2 tempurpedic pillows, haven't looked back.

love my tempurpedic.
i got the newer cloud series one or whatever, and they supposedly dont have the issue with them becoming rock hard in cold weather. and from what i can tell its true.
also depending on what model you have they have improved airflow that makes them not so hot to sleep on.

Its been about 7 years since I got my Simmons Beauty Rest...and I LOVED that bed...now I have a memory topper thats worn out and pillow top and I just wake up with a REALLY stiff back.
I have been looking to the Tempurpedic Cloud Luxe bed...Its WAY nicer than the OG tempurpedics of a couple years ago...I am seriously considering this route. Their new remote ergo base is SUPER nice as well...but its a lot of coin, good thing is it can always be bought later.
So, I'm in the new mattress decision making as well.

We bought a Dr. Breus mattress in November. We didn't have the luxury of shopping around, so we bought from the local Sleepys.
I really like this mattress so far. We tried every mattress in the store, and didn't like anything as much as this, including the Tempurpedic, which seemed very hard and uncomfortable. This mattress feels similar to the Tempurpedic, but IMO more comfortable and supportive. However, everyone is different! The best bed is the one that is most comfortable to you.

Well, tempurpedic makes lots of different mattresses....one line is a very soft line, the one I was looking at which after today I decided was too soft. They also have a line that is firmer with a pillow top that suited me much better.
But now I am looking at these latex style mattresses, Dr. Breus seems to just be a name...these customizable flobeds seems interesting....more research to be done!

So, I thought I wanted the Cloud Luxe....medium firm with a super cushy pillow top...but after a couple trips to the store and and lied in it more...it was just too cushy, not enough support for my lower back which would have been really bad...so, naturally I looked at the allura, which I have discovered after the fact, that is what a lot of people have been doing.
The store I was at doesnt the big daddy model, the grand bed...and it costs WAY too much anyway. The allura is the next in line...It has the firmness I need with a cushy pillow top.
After trying that one as many times as I tried the Cloud Luxe, it was decided that was the best. They arent cheap...but at this point my back is worth spending the money.
The other good points are the 90 days tryout...if I decide it sucks, it only costs me $250 for shipping return. They claim the return rate is only 3%.
The other plus was they were offering 0% for 36 months. So, instead of being out the cash that I want in reserve for the twins birth/childcare/whatever if I dont get on another show right away, I can stretch out the pay off a little.

This is what I have for almost 3 years now.
My only complaint is it DOES get hot. The foam is heat activated. Your body heat makes it softer. It's real firm if it's cold. But It's never really cold in FL. So my bed gets pretty hot. I had to use 2 sheets to try & insulate me from the foam. The 1st few months I was always sweating in the bed. I ruined a sheet & needed a new foam cover because the sheet stained the cover.
It still gets more hot then I 'd like & if I needed another bed again it won't be a foam one.

Had our tempurpedic for about two now and I'm liking it more and more. I definitely sleep better on my side. I dont wake up anywhere near as stuff I used to, still stiff, but I can instantly get up and move around.
It doesnt get too hot...the memory foam pillow top does its job to add some cushion and ventilate the bed.

This is the one I was going to get...the highest Cloud model, the Luxe...it feels like a dream...but after 20-30 minutes I started to realize it just didnt have the lower back support because of the SUPER cushy pillow top and the medium firmness on the mattress.
So, I spent $500 more and went with the Alustra, which is firm and has a nice soft pillow top.

loving my cloud, but im really not thinking its worth the money. although i do notice i dont have any more back pain or whatnot.
i dont know for how much i paid i was expecting to like fall asleep right away and wake up completely energized.
then again it could be me just getting 5-6 hours of sleep a night and not really enjoying my job?
maybe i shouldve went with the classic?

Before you buy it...lie on it for a good while, like 20-30 minutes.

I am four years into a Simmons Beauty Rest and my back hurts and the bed has sagged where I sleep. Looking for something new...

At some point I would LOVE to get the ergo base and see how sleeping in the "zero g" position is.
